Solms family
« on: February 24, 2010, 07:07:30 PM »
Solms family has various branches but what I wanted to know is who was Frederic de Solms(1815-1863),husband of Maria-Laetitia Wyse-Bonaparte,granddaughter of Napoleon's brother Lucien? He is somewhere called a Count zu Solms but this would be in contrast to the title his wife used and that is Princesse Marie de Solms...If one knows Solms genealogy there were Princely and Countly branches of the family,so a wife of a Count couldn't call herself a Princess...anyway,in genealogy sites there isn't any Friedrich von Solms who lived from 1815-1863...so if anyone know who is he?

Here is the wiki article of his wife who called herself Princesse de Solms:

P.S.This thread is,apart from my question, dedicated to Solms family,so...feel free to post anything related!

Princess Marie of Solms

Rani, those pictures are fantastic...never seen any of them...so glad you posted them...the quoted one is Marie de Solms I asked about, but couldn't identify her husband...she called herself Princesse de Solms...here is her another picture...

If you find something about her first husband Friedrich(1815-1863),post...because I don't think he belonged to the dynasty of Solms, but just called himself like that otherwise there wouldn't be said that he was "a rich gentleman from Strasbourg"

Unfortunately not...Friedrich you posted is Count Friedrich von Solms-Laubach,ancestor of Present Hohenzollern Head Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia(1976-) that lived from 1833-1900 and this other Friedrich or Frederic de Solms as they call him lived from 1815-1863.It is also said that this Frederic de Solms left his wife Marie and went to America...

Many, if not all, of them were on sale on Ebay in the last couple of months. If you check out German Ebay, they frequently have many photos and postcards of royals not generally seen. They rather fly under the radar. However, I think some of these fetched better prices than most lesser-known royals.

Then definitely check it out--even if you don't bid (or win) on any cards, it can be well-worth a visit just to browse.  :)

Are there any paintings or pics of Friedrich Wilhelm von Solms-Braunfels (1770-1814), second husband of Friederike von Mecklenburg-Strelitz, later Queen of Hannover, and their children?

Could those be members of the Solms family? I think the girl on the floor has some similarities with Marie Solms HS Lich. On the back of the card it says they are members of the Ysenburg / Isenburg family.
