Referencing Replies #s 25 and 28: The "belt-like thing" (partially showing) is the sash, or "ribband" of a Grand Cross grade of an imperial order, being worn over the shoulder, and the badge or "jewel" of the order being worn at the gathered ends of the sash, on the opposite hip. IMO, it's undoubtedly the Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Catherine, which was bestowed at the christening of every Grand Duchess, or a Grand Duchess who married into the Imperial Family. According to Nick Nicholson in an article (on the history of this order) on the APTM site, "When Alexandra Feodorovna and her daughters went into exile in Siberia, they took their badges and stars with them. They were recovered in 1933." AP
