All these people having the same names as OTMA. How did they ever keep track!?
Quite easily, I would think. For one thing, there's the use of the patronymic. So Anastasia Nikolaievna would not be confused with an Anastasia Sergeievna, for example.
Also, the widespread Russian usage of nicknames would differentiate between two , or more people with the same name. I doubt Anastasia Hendrikova would be called Schvibzik, to stay with the same examples.
Also in any society or even small social grouping there are often several people with the same first names and there's rarely confusion. A typical American classroom might well have more than one Megan or Alex or Brian and they all know which is which. It's likely there were other Tims in your social circle at some time and I'm sure people knew which was you and who wasn't.
(my best friend is a Rodney and people have come up with a name which differentiates us. Not telling though).
