I'm not sure but I guess it was taken in 1912 or 1913.

I'd rather say that it was taken as early as 1912.

Exactly -- I meant that 1912 would be the maximum.

This would've been taken in mid-late 1911. You can see that Olga's hair is still down, indicating she is still not sixteen. There are other photos from this day where it's a little clearer.

To us those hats are crazy, but looking at the hats they endured as children, they must of been glad hats were progressively getting smaller! By the end of their royal lives they were wearing  cloche hats / flapper hats that were worn throughout the 20's .  Here's Marie in one. Seems to me she's trying it on and is quite pleased. It's a unusual image of one of them since it could have been take years after thier passing...Marie was still in style

They are at least attending their father as he takes a sample of the sailors food. A tradition  I have seen them have Alexis do before...but the way the big pair are lined up and at attention, I believe they will be shortly slipping soup as well. Totally new nena! You are amazing!
