Quote
Olga's diary mentions by name the horses that she and Tatiana rode during their regimental exercises on 5 August 1913:
At 10:30 the two of us in uniforms went to the training grounds. We rode on horses: I rode on Regent, T[atiana] on Robino.
Indeed, but this horse is not Regent. Both of Regent's  back feet had  white ankles. So perhaps this is just a photo shoot?
...or  Olga changed horses for the review. At the review she is riding the horse with two white back feet

Here's  terrific footage of the review

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-si1gMtPNM&feature=channel#movie_player

You can often pick out Olga because, as I mentioned, her horse, Regent,  has two white back feet .  You can see the girls ride up behind their father and smile at each other at 3:40 on the right hand side of the screen. Of course the film is from the fabulous  tashusik!

Nice, royal_netherlands ! Thank you for posting it!  Looks  like Olga wrote the message part. Wouldn't that be a great thing to have?

To me it looks like a different one from this one http://nd01.jxs.cz/298/891/5cdcfc4eae_44828018_o2.jpg her eyes (in linked photo) seem more open and she looks somewhat sad and her lips seemed almost pursed where as the one that was just posted http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3324/4556748356_84e13f7608_o.jpg it looks as though she actually trying to smile a little and her posture seems more straight... but i don't know it's just my opinion! Has anyone else noticed any differences or is it just me? lovely photo though Dru!  ;)

I see what you are saying, but I think they might be the same phot , just one is printed darker than the other... But I can't say I think much of the photographer!  I'm not crazy about these photos where they are in shadow! The Taiana one taken at this time isn't so great either... just imo
