I don't know the exact date of that picture, but i tend to think it was 1912.

Yes, me too; i was thinking the same, but, for I'm a mess in dating pics, i was embarassed to say it...  ;)

To help you dating a picture, it is sometimes helpful to look at the girls' hair and skirt lenght etc.

if I remember, I have read one time that it was taken in 1906. I hope that I helped you :-)

If I have a look at Alexis - and I know children by that age - I would say he is around 2 - 3 years old. Not older and not younger. So it must be around 1906 - 1907.

Sunny, I agree it gets confusing sometimes but when in doubt it’s no harm to ask especially in this forum where there are many knowledgeable members who will be more than glad to answer our questions.
About the last photo that I have posted, I agree with irishgirl84 and Grand Duchess Valeria, I think it was taken around 1906; there are other few photos from that day.

I'm quite sure i've seen other photos taken in the same day, or in the same summer as yours, Voyager, and they were all labelled to be taken in 1906, so i think you're right!

Much better, VOF -- thanks! Looks like your version hasn't been retouched, either.

From eBay... new to me and frankly dazzling ...the only other group photo of Olga and her Hussar's  from the 1913  review,  I believe Olga is looking to the side. Here she's looking right into the lens...stunning
