Gorgeous! So regal! In that photoshoot she seems even more regal than Tatiana at times. A true Grand Duchess there! It's almost as if the formal photos Olga was an entirely different person than the candid Standart smiles Olga.

Indeed. I'm always impressed at how seriously the children took their social  positions and "job" at such young ages . There is the famous Olga quote " In St Petersburg we work, but in Lavardia we live..." and work they did . They understood  importance of expression at times like this. Olga's pride, sense of heritage and love of country is palpable.

I don't believe I've ever seen that pic before !!! Thank you for posting. Is it from Yale?

I think it was taken at Livadia 1909.

I think it's more likely from one of the two the albums held by the Yeltsin library, but I'm not certain. Many of those photos were taken in 1908.

This reminds me of some photos where the chemicals seem off . There's a photo of the children in Alix's room ....Olga is behind THE chair and one of her eyes look 2x as big as the other...it's not Olga's eyes..it's the photo chemicals breaking down or something

Maybe this one? I don't think it's a chemical thing, but there's some spotting over Olga's right eye and forehead:

Yes that's exactly the one I mean...I haven't seen it that big before and it does look like an unfortunate placement of a spot rather than a general chemical reaction...thank you!

WOW, I've never seen that photo so big. I've always thought that OTMA's dresses were really wierd everyday outfits, but now I see that they're actually dresses that may have been worn at a fancy court function! I never really thought much about dresses they wore to banquets and the like, because we see these really fancy and elegant gowns in the the many formal shots from the 5-some famous sessions, but I've never given the fancy dresses they wore that weren't in formals much thought. I hope I'm making sense here... ::)
In any case, thank you for that nice big photo, Sarushka!  :)

well that's interesting...perhaps a PM to VOF about the matter would have been a good opening salvo?  Pictures on the web and ebay have been posted here for some time and there hasn't been a problem  .... if there is a problem with this one, I'm sure VOF would be happy to stop. Actually I would think you wouldn't mind the extra traffic to your ebay auction of this photo such a posting would generate...however it's your call....you only have to ask ...and meanwhile I'm waiting for the photos I won from you on eBay ... whose very existence  I learned about from similar AP posts.
