This photo has already been posted, but this is the first time I've seen it "colored" so I thought I would share:

There are a number of other photos "colored" by the girls at the following link:

Wow, what a beautiful photo !

I agree! Never seen it before and darn near took my breath away...beautiful pose, beautiful young lady!

Any guesses as to when it was taken and what the occasion may have been? Whenever I see them wearing dark colors like this I'm instantly reminded of the well-know photo of OTM at KR's funeral in June of 1915. But this is clearly a different outfit and Olga looks a bit younger than 19 1/2. I'm guessing 1913...thoughts?

Most of these VK rares have been from 1914-1916 albums. The hat also reminds me of the general style of the hats the girls wore to be photographed at the hospital or public appearances during WWI. Personally I'd guess 1915-1916, but it could be anything from 1913-1916.

From what I can make of the captions they were taken in Yaroslavl while visiting a monastery in 1913 . Here is the page where I found them http://montolga.ru/photogallery/old_photos/arhiv_monastery/

It is the 21 of May 1913, they visited the monastery of Tolga (near Yaroslav) during their trip on the Volga river.
Here is the link of the official site of this monastery, where are those pictures from: http://montolga.ru/

I think the ones of Olga in the dark dress and hat were taken in an upstairs window at the Alexander Palace. Somewhere I have an exterior photo that shows the bars on the children's windows....

Here's a photo I found of the Imperial family leaving the Winter Palace after Nicholas & Alexandra's famous appearance on the balcony - August 2, 1914.  Alexandra and Olga are looking anguished.

Well, if you mean the Grand Duchess whose face is half hidden by Alexandra, which is Olga, I don't really see anguish, though she may well be strained. That's Marie full-faced in the right/center, and she does seem quite upset.

Thanks, Sarushka for the localisation. I thought it was Peterhof. For whom could she mourning in 1913?
