Yakov Yurosky's son

Hi everyone. I was watching a documentary says that Yakov Yerovsky's  (not sure if I spelled that right) son was gave the account of his father where they buried the imperial family to the person who was trying to find the Romanov grave. what I am trying to find out is. what was his name? I did some research but I couldn't find it. I would also like to find out which date he was born and died. if anyone has any information on on his life and photos please reply.

His name was Alexander Yakovlevich Yurovsky (1904 - 1986). He was a fleet admiral. He took part in Second world war and was arrested in 1952. After Stalin's death in 1953, he was made free from imprisonment. He had a sister who died during the thirties (I believe during Stalin's executions).

I see, his son was born in the same year Tsarevich Alexei was.

Here is more detailed info about both Yurovsky children and in addition about one of his grandson. It's interesting that all of them surprisingly served in the Soviet Navy (or close structures) in various places and on different positions.

Yurovsky Alexander Yakovlevich


1. Yurovsky Alexander Yakovlevich (1904 - 5.05.1986), Engineer Rear Admiral (1944). In 1923 entered in the Naval Frunze College and in 1926 graduated (was the third among the classmates in academic achievement). Started his military service on the battleship "Paris Commune". Then he successively held the post of assistant officer to the watchkeeper chief and watchkeeper chief, chief of artillery of a mine fire, a senior assistant to the gunner. In 1927-1928 he finished studies in the artillery class of special courses of improvement the command staff (Special courses of the Naval Forces of the Red Army) and during 1931-1935 studied at the Naval Voroshilov Academy. After the graduation began his engineering work in the field of development and testing of the large caliber marine artillery systems on the Bolshevik factory. Worked as a military representative and commissioner of the Office of Soviet Navy Armament and later as a deputy head of the scientific-testing marine artillery range in Leningrad. At that time participated in the development and testing of new equipment for the cruisers, destroyers and battleships. Participated in the WWII, including in July 1941 he installed marine artillery on the Moscow outskirts. From 1942 worked as a deputy chief of Ordnance Department of the Soviet Navy. In 1944 was promoted to the Engineer Rear Admiral rank. In 1952 was arrested and imprisoned in the Butyrskaya prison. In March 1953 (after Stalin's death), was freed and dismissed from the disease. Died in Leningrad in 1986.

2. Yurovsky Evgeniy Yakovlevich (1909- ?), Lieutenant Colonel. Participated in the WWII with the Lieutenant Colonel rank. In the first War days was appointed as a Battalion Commissar and Commissar of the battery near Rzhev. After the break out of encirclement was appointed in the 14th separate Guards Mortar Battalion. After the war finished the higher courses of political personnel in Moscow and served as a political worker in the Soviet Navy.

3. Grandson, Yurovsky Vladislav Alexandrovich (1929- ....), Captain of the 1st rank, PhD and docent. Worked for a rather long time in the Naval Academy and studied the theory of operations research, made a significant contributions to the application of this theory in the Navy Forces.

Thank you nena and Nicolá De Valerón  for all the valuable information. I also heard that he was interested in the Romanov family and did research on them. His older sister called him crazy for that and also said that Nicholas II was a bloodthirsty tyrant.

Who claimed Yurovsky was remorseful in his last years, and where did they say or write this?
