Rakitnoe
« on: April 30, 2010, 08:15:45 PM »
Hi there,
Does anyone having any descriptions of the Yusupov hunting estate Rakitnoe? It was the last part of the Yusupov holdings that Felix and his family would have seen (apart from the Crimea estates) after the murder of Rasputin as it was there he was exiled to by the Tsar. I've often wondered what it looked like and was it a large house the Yusupovs had there? I'm also curious to know what happened to the estate after the Bolshevik takeover? Was it turned into a collective farm and I wonder what happened to the house? Any info would be greatly appreciated about Rakitnoe. Thanks.

there is probably a town hall there and maybe you can contact them on the internet to determine whether they have archives or not

Here's a link to a photo of restored Palace in Rakitnoe:

After the Revolution the estate was of course nationalized as they said then. Now it's a school and in one of the rooms of the Palace there's a small Yusupov museum.
