Sorry to hijack your thread, but I'll chuck this in here so as to not spam the forum with 'identify this' threads.

Does anyone know what the outfit this man is wearing corresponds to? http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6379/shturmer.gif

This man is wearing here the uniform of State Council.

Some information:
This is Shturmer Boris Vladimirovich. 1848-1917. Graduated from St. Petersburg University. From 1876 - senior clerk of the Department of Justice, from 1882 - deputy for special assignments in the same ministry. In 1892 was enlisted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From 1894 - Novgorod Governor, then from 1896 - Governor of Yaroslavl. From 1902 - Director of the Department of General Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from 1904 - Member of the State Council. From January to November of 1916 - Chairman of the Council of Ministers and at the same time from March to July - Minister of the Interior, from July to November - Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was convicted by the State Duma as a pro-german minded bureaucrat. From November of 1916 retired. After the February Revolution was arrested and died in the Peter and Paul fortress.

Very interesting. I can't seem to find an image of a full length State Council uniform - what did the bottom half of the uniform entail?

Totally agree.

I also think that it would be better not to post endless single threads with identification help, but to make a single huge thread where people can post their short and single requests.

Maybe forum admin (Rob) can make this thread? Something like "for single and short uniform identification requests."

Thank you Nicola, it's a very interesting ceremonial dress for State Council. Stolypin is pictured in so many photos with various uniforms. In this picture is he in the uniform of the interior ministiry or is it the navy?

Stolypin here is on the Polar Star (Standart?) with Fredericks. Stolypin is wearing the Minister's ceremonial uniform.
