Nicholas II and Dowager Empress Marie
« on: July 27, 2010, 08:03:51 AM »
Sorry if this has ever been posted before, I couldn't find it.

I remember reading once that Minnie confronted Nicky, saying that his brothers would have been much better Tsars, her brutal opinions on Alexandra, etc. etc.

Did Nicky ever write about this in his diary?

If anyone knows or has an actual entry, please post here!

Thanks!

I don't think this really happened, at least, in this way...I remember that Minnie had been rather brutal in the way he talked to his son when they meet for the last time ...at the movie Nicholas and Alexandra. I think you are speaking about that movie and not about the real thing. She could have speak not so gentle words about Alix more than once, she even wrote letters treating this issue, but not in the crude way she did at "Nicholas and Alexandra".

However, I'm not able to remember that she had said nothing about Nicky's brothers. All she said is that Nicky's father would have hanged the chiefs of the riots. But nothing more. And remember: it's a MOVIE not the real history of the facts. Nobody knows for sure what mother and son talked about.

Olga Alexandrovna told later that her mother would blame Alicky for all bad things that were happening, but she spoke this way to her daughter, never to his son. And I don't know any entry of the Tsar's diary written in the terms you are referring to.

Oh, Minnie means the Dowager Empress.  Sorry, when I saw the name, I immediately pictured a huge mouse in Disney World.  The fact that Nicky rhymes with Mickey didn't help.

Thank you setting me straight! No, I wasn't really talking about Nicholas and Alexandra, although I have seen that movie, I was more referring to a website that is now closed. But, as everyone here probably knows you can't really trust websites to get their facts right all of the time!

Tim - I thought exactly the same thing.  All I could hear was Mickey and Minnie not Nicky and Minnie.

Two great minds ... as they say.

Yes...Sometimes even books contents great factual mistakes...but some websiters owners have a pretty wild imagination. I've visited some of them who are really crazy and could do an immense harm, since people who reads it could believe is the historical true when it isn't. Just think there's a website who depicts Nicholas daughters personnalities quoting... "Anastasia"'s cartoon!  >:(
