Of those familiar with Russian currency I ask: were any Romanovs, reigning or not, ever depicted on Russian ruble notes? Or on coins for that matter? I know some appeared on stamps, including Nicholas II, but on circulating currency? Also, one wonders about the prospect of seeing an Imperial face on , say, the 100 ruble note, now that the Imperial Era  is viewed more favorably in present-day Russia.

Response:  There are multiple resources on-line to which you can turn to see images of what you seek, especially on coins.  For paper currency, one source that you can consult is the following:  "Banknotes.com - Russia 500 Rubles - 1912 - Bank Notes, Paper Money ......."   Once you have this illustration, go to upper left and click on "Russia Banknote Gallery."  You will find other examples there by era and date, many common and others not-so-common.  In response to the second part of your inquiry:  In my opinion, I would feel that the potential of an "Imperial face" appearing in the near future on present-day paper currency, would be only those of the historically-revered earlier Emperors/Empresses.    AP

Just for grins, here are four silver Imperial Rubles from the 18th century, I bought for Bob years ago.  I don't know if they are real or not, they look it, but they were not expensive.  I think I paid maybe $15  each.

Those coins are pretty neat and apparently in good condition. In comparison it's frequently quite hard to read the lettering and even more so the date on pre-WWII US coins. And just offhand I'd say 15$ each was a real steal for coins of that period, assuming they're authentic.
