The older Minnie was much more elegant than the younger Minnie.

Indeed. I read "young Minnie"'s auto-bio, but I wonder what the older one feel about her young namesake ?

She was still in her crinoline and curls era. Her sister Alexandra used the curls to hide her scar on her neck.

It's often stated that Princess Alexandra had a scar on her neck that she didn't like from an illness when she was young. It's why she wore curls on her neck when young and set the fashion for dog collars as she got older.

Yes. So the dress and hairstyle fits the period.

Olga was Dagmar's favorite sister-in-law. They remained close for many years.

Dating the photo merely by fashion, I'd say probably early 1870s because it seems that the bustles are rather large, and the overall frilly-ness in trim and slightly looser fit of the bodices indicate the early bustle era, probably between 1870-1875. I could be wrong, though, & in that case it would be 1884-1889, the 2nd large bustle era, but it doesn't seem to be that to me...

Oh, I see that you've posted a date, Svetabel! Knowing that you're far more knowledgeable about Marie Feodorovna than I am, your dating is probably more accurate, though Queen Olga's dress does not seem to be very natural form era to me, because of the jutting out of the bustle.

Nope, thats not early 1870s, but late 1870s, so Svetabel is right.
