Alexandra making a funny face

Oh, Alix is very funny in that picture! How could she make that distorted face?? Now I know where Anastasia got her skills!
I hope that more funny anecdotes which reveal her sunny disposition will surface soon or later. Much has been written about her but I believe there are more to know!

Amazing colored fotos  by the most wonderful Yelena Aleksandrovna. Endless thank you very much!

Alexandra making a funny face

I don't usually quote pictures as we encourage all posters not to, but this photo is, to me, almost too distorted and ugly to look at.  Alix looks like a creature from a future Twilight Zone or Outer Limits production.  It makes me shiver with revulsion.

It doesnt look pretty as she uses to look often but show a different aspect of Alexandra that i like. In this picture we can see she wasnt all the time that woman with melancholic  and kind of bitter look and that makes her more "close", at least to me, someone who never liked her.

Sometimes we forget that some people (AKA famous people, royals, etc) are (or Were ) Humans, not perfect and flawless people 24/7 . This is what a normal (cheerie and happy) people does in a private context ; fool around and being silly at the camera.

Kat - I understand and I know that, too.

I think it is just so ugly that if it were a picture of anyone, not just Alix, I wouldn't like it.

Of course these pictures were most likely never meant to be seen by the general public.  Like many letters and photos and other Romanov private things, we wouldn't be seeing them at all if the murder had never happened.

It's Tatiana...Olga's features are totally different and much more when they were babies. Tatiana had a very distinctive look since she was a baby.

The funny thing about this photo is that Alix seems to be showing the little one how to read... :D I know it was an authomatic reaction to make a good pose for a pic and that Alix was not learning a reader lesson to a baby!  ;)

Regardless if where it came from, I think this is a nice picture of Alexandra.  It shows what a great mother she was.

I wonder when this picture was taken.  She looks old in it, but since she was only 46 when she died, she never truly got to old age.

She started aging very quickly after about....oh, 1909 or so, and especially after that horrible hemophilia attack Alexei suffered at Spala in 1912.  : (

Is that a grand-duke on the back? Doesn't he look like Dmitri Konstantinovich? I really this picture, the one with Tatiana is absolutely adorable. One of the best I saw of the Empress!
