Love that one. Alix is adorable...sad, I guess these are formals  taken right after their mother died. The grief on Irene 's face is still pretty raw.
All that is missing is a bust of Alice...this looks like some of the post Albert photos of Queen Victoria and family. Thanks for posting =)

VOF, I love that one. I like seeing all the sisters together ...unusual in the later years...very interesting since Alix had four girls herself...I 've always loved this photo of them. They maybe in mourning for their father here,I'm not sure

Their father died in 1892, Alix was 19 years old at that time, so they are not in mourning for him.

Why are they not...? Oh, I see, because Alix's hair is down, so she is probably only fifteen, and in mourning for him her hair would have been up. Could someone post a picture of her in mourning for Grand Duke Louis? I don't think I've ever seen one before...
