Wow.  I'm laughing my head off!  I'm sorry, but she looks kinda goofy.  My new favorite picture.  But, IDK, it doesn't really look like Alix.  Are you sure it's her?

It's definitely Alexandra, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's been retouched. Something about the lighting on Alexandra's face has never looked right to me.

I think the effect its because of the scan. Maybe if we see the large image...

Its a cool picture of her, i like it!

It's her eyes.  They don't look right to me for some reason.

i zoomed the picture and indeed her eyes looks weird. Maybe the pjhotographer painted them cause they wasnt much visible?. That was a common practice back then. I also noticed her finger looks a bit blurry so she was moving it in the moment the picture was taken.

Makes me wonder what was going on.  An empress grinning for once in her life while waving her finger, and her daughter nearby with roller skates on.  Isn't it random?

I thought there was something wrong with her eyes.  I have no clue why, I just have an obsession with her eyes.  They always make me smile and feel like though my day was icky, someone's still watching over me.  Did I freak you out yet?  Mwa-ha-ha-ha!

its calles "candid picture". It was a picture of Alexandra not posed doing something inusual. I love those kind of pictures cause they show us royals doinf normal  things like us. Nicholas has tons of "candid" ones and i was looking forward to see more  candids of Alexandra. *0*

Ps; you you didnt freak me out...it takes more than that to freak the hell outta me xDDD

I'm from Wisconsin. And according to the Italian foreign exchange student at my school, my town is located in the middle of nowhere.
I'm back on my bull****.

These were taken either in 1901 or 1902, I am simply amazed, Ally, well done!  8-)

It's the first time I see either picture without a watermark. Thanks Laura.

That chair is quite magnificent.  It's like a little chapel all by itself and thank you so much for posting without those dreadful watermarks.
