Cutting a fever patient's hair short also makes the head feel lighter and cooler.

I've also read that when a great high fever was declared in a sick person, doctors would ask to shave the patient's head for he/she could feel cooler.

Yep RealAnastasia.   

It's like when we are cold, many tell us to put a beanie or a hat on to stop the heat coming from the top of our heads.  That wig looked pretty cool in my opinion.
