This quote is actually taken from another thread in this forum. I think the source was either Marie Paulovna the younger or Zinaida Yussopv. I will try to look it up again. I think it is quite fantastic. Like another of Rasputin jumping up and down on a photo of Ella calling it "Lisabeth ! She is my enemy !" I read this from other books.

To Ella, Rasputin was pure evil. She once complained she cannot pray for some reason, and somebody saw Rasputin slip into the church. Ella only began to feel peace again once he left. It would seem that even his presence was disruptive to Ella.

These quotes are certainly "fantastic" in every sense of the word!

Of course they are just foolish tales. The real pity is that someone reading them in a book, might even believe them to be true!

I am not so sure about discounting the evil about Rasputin. She and him were really enemies.

"Here at Ilinskoe we go for long walks - lately one lasted for about two hours. We walked in the woods and together with Fräulein Schneider I got completely lost. In order to find the others who were about to drive back home we ran so fast that we managed to pass a walk of 3/4 hours in thirty minutes!. As a result I looked wonderfully red and my feet are encrusted with blisters. But all in all it was very nice and at the tea table I ate and drunk twice as much as usually - and they said I looked healthy and burnt by the sun"

«Ныне трудно найти правду на Земле,
затопляемой все сильнее греховными волнами;
чтобы не разочароваться в жизни, надо правду
искать на Небе, куда она ушла от нас.»

"I have a nature of a dog - when I suffer, I hide  myself". (From a letter to Princess Yusupova, 1909 year)

Really...when she was driven after a bad interview with Alicky, she met up with the cousins and cried "She drove me away like a dog".

My quote doesn't have anything similar with that conversation of two sisters.

Ella said she had the nature of a dog, why did she minded being driven away like a dog ? Just a pun on words used. She most certainly did not hide after that hurtful audience but report to her relatives for sympathy.

"Ich grüße Dich und ich lese jetzt von Rüben. Es giebt weiße und rothe Rüben. Rüben sind anders wie Rosen, Rosen kann man nicht essen. Baroness Grancy hat Zahnschmerzen."

I transalated it on Google Transalator, and what I got was very strange!
"I greet you and I read now from beets. There are white and red beets. Beets are different as roses, roses can not eat. Grancy Baroness has a toothache."
Who is Grancy Baroness?

The correct translation is:
"I greet you and I'm now reading about beets. There are white and red beets. Beets are different than roses, roses one cannot eat. Baroness Grancy has a toothache."

She was obviously reading about agriculture and the distinction between white and red beets made her think of roses.
Baroness Grancy must have been a Hessian courtier related to Baron August von Senarclens de Grancy, the lover of her great grandmother Grand Duchess Wilhelmine.
