Alexei's favorite color?

It might be, I just remember a bit about it and how if you weren't royal you couldn't wear purple. To be 100% sure I'd have to look into a bit more.

Yes, purple was indeed the color of royalty. In the middle age (and I think quite earlier) purple was very expensive and very hard to produce. That's why it was considered to be particularly valuable. Wearing purple became tradition in royal families but unfortunately I also don't know if that was the case in Imperial Russia. ;-) I think that was very likely though. But I can't imagine that purple was Alexei's favourite color.

While i still dont have an answer as to his favourite colour, i can tell you that pruple was the Royal colour of the Byzantine empire, the dye came from an aquatic animal, i think a certain oyster but i cant be sure.

Purple is my favourite colour Over here in England, red, purple and royal blue are the colours of royalty. I think I read somewhere that in China the royal colour was yellow, and only the emperor was allowed to wear it. It was in a story where a child emperor had met his brother and sister for the first time in years, but he saw that his brother had a yellow lining inside his shirt and the child-emperor hit him. I can't remember what happened next Hope that helped - I be one for random, useless pieces of information!

While i still dont have an answer as to his favourite colour, i can tell you that pruple was the Royal colour of the Byzantine empire, the dye came from an aquatic animal, i think a certain oyster but i cant be sure.

The purple dye comes from a snail called "Hexaplex trunculus" or "purple snail".

Yes, they're sea snails. More than 60,000 snails were needed to produce one pound of dye. At least that's what Wikipedia says. I'm glad that nowadays synthesized purple is used.

It was probably green or blue in my opinion. I mean Alexei was all boy and loved the military so green is probable and blue for the whole boys in blue deal.

This is off topic, but talking of candy makes me wonder if Alexei had a fave sweet? ( There's already probably a thread about this, but I just want a quick answer because it's sometime tedious to go looking ^^')

I know that everyone claims that he had an immense love for "Blinis", and Alexandra made them for him. Plus I've read in on a couple of his diary entries that he ate (I think it was 19, but it slips me) pancakes! Especially one the last day he could have any, which I think may have been in Butter(?) week. (Sorry, haven't read up on the IF for two months now and is forgetful, lol.)
