My two dearies,

The abandoned family. It seems the rest of the courtiers has left the stage. As long as we are before the curtains, the dynasty will survive. I miss that noisy bunch. :'(

However, we are a nice triangle -- we women are very much capable to rule -- look at our ancestors-- so T.D. can play with his tin soldiers and be careful where he walks. I can tell you more of his mishaps. ;D I'll save those stories for an other time, have to receive my balalaika-teacher.

See you two dearies at the Opera tomorrow. Perhaps the Empress will rejoice us with her sophisticated and tasteful appearance. :D

Dearest GD Janet and  GD Anna:  Sorry GD Janet, I didn't make myself clear.  I meant that  Baroness B's  toes were similar to yours. Last summer  I saw you both wading in our fountain and was just awestruck by the way your dainty feet matched perfectly.  Am I off the hook with that flimsy reply?  See you at the opera, Anna.  Is that a Marx brothers opera?  You never know for sure what is going to be on stage these days. Even making this post I myself am on an international stage of sorts.  Maybe I'll wear my new commander's hat.  "D" 8)

Dearies All,

Well, lunch with Mr. D. was simply the WORST! He brought the Catwoman with him (the one who dear Anna said "doesn't beat around the bush!")...well, I had to excuse myself after the first course on the flimsy excuse of needing to use the ladies' room...then grabbed my sable coat from my favorite coatroom attendant and fled the Ritz ASAP...hailed one of those darling black London taxi cabs...and went straight to Gatwick for the flight to dear St. Petersburg...never fear, no imperial beans were spilled! And from what I have read on this thread since my brief respite away, there seem to be alot more beans to spill now than there were before I left my sweet mauve cottage to lunch with Mr. D...

You know, poor Count Fredericks cannot take anymore imperial shenanigans...please darlings, be DISCREET!!!! As dear GD Janet has reminded us, to quote that very famous British actress: please do not scare the horses or your public. Everytime Tsar D. is indiscreet (shame on you for the Spa Woman Episode!) the Empress orders the whole contents of the Harrod's mailorder cataloque to drown her many sorrows...as well as the telly shopping channels...how many Imperial Garage Sales can we have to deal with the things that we cannot cram into the attics of the Catherine Palace?   caio for now, Melissa & Ortino II

Dearest All

It's been a while since I posted and, as I have been incommunicado for so long, I thought I'd get back in touch to see if there are any formal plans for a Court Ball.  Dinahlova has decided that it's about time I brought her to St Pete's and, as I'm now fully recovered after a nasty bout of measles AND emergency surgery, I thought I might treat both her and me to a trip.  So, shall I pack my dancing shoes and swirly dress??  Unfortunately I will not be able to attend early in November as I have to make a Grand Tour to Orlando, Florida, but will be returning to the UK by 20 November.  However, a Court Ball in the days before Christmas sounds wonderful - I can just see it - swishing silk, sparkling chandeliers, crisp snow and troikas to dash across town in - absolute perfection.  Dinahlova would of course be limited to her room during the party - but she'd enjoy seeing visitors in ones and twos during the evening just so she could catch up with all that's happened during a summer spent indoors.

Glad to see the Claimants post is still very much alive and all we Royals are sticking together in these uncertain times!

Best wishes to all.

Kathleen

Splendid suggestion, Katieann! And may I suggest, my fellow royal claimnuts (oops, of course I meant claimants) that, all recent posts considered, we hold a court ball ASAP. Nothing like a good ol' fashioned court ball to reunite us, and it would seem that such an event is precisely what we need at this time. So let us send out invitations, post haste, but only to bona fide claimants . . . no spa ladies or Catwomen, and most certainly no Mr. Dunne. Plus, I do not think it out of bounds to request that all budgie claimants attend in cages with the appropriate papers. (Nobody, but nobody, wants a soiled kokoshnik.) As for Tsar D., you may attend only if you leave your Rufus T. Firefly costume at home, but certainly bring along your dear Tsarina and that amazing ADC.

The dainty-footed

Dearies,

That seems more like it, a ball. :D Good for the spirits and a change to play my balalaika. What about a masqurade, I've got hundreds of different sunglasses, no point. Would love to dance une pas du tout avec T.D. - put on the right boots and the costume in which you look like a cute tin soldier, would you dear?

GD/GP Janet, I guess that handsome ADC will be your escort, does he have a brother? Otherwise I've to accept the old Generals invitation as my escort.:P Can you imagine, I'd rather eat my pearls.:-/

Well I can always take a parrot on my shoulder as accompany.

From the cage paper of HIM-ically Perched ALEXIS-PERCIVAL  Budgerigar of Budgerigars, Ph.D of all Bird-Brains, etcetera, etcetera.

To: HIM's and HIH's of all Wings of all Palaces.

We, ALEXIS-PERCIVAL, and Our beloved Empress ALEXIS-CAROLINA,  as well as the Budgerigarevich DMITRI, all the Great Parakeet Princes (including the recently cage-trained COSSACK BABY) and both Grand Budgiesses TATIANA MOLLY and ALEXANDRA MAGGIE, would be most delighted to attend the upcoming Grand Ball, and understand that cage paper will indeed be de-riguer for the festive evening.   After all, would we have pooped on little Alexei, his imperial parents or his august sisters?  Never, no matter how excruciatingly sweet and cute we parakeets can be!

We plan on coming in on the next convenient round-trip flight from Massandra.

ALEXIS-PERCIVAL.

No, my dearest mentor Anna, you have not lost me. I have just returned from "Piter" where I was on vacation. And there was pre-trip planning and post-trip jet lag, so...here I am now!

Did I say vacation...well, you never know with us spies. Someone (!) has to keep on eye on the Imperial reputation with all the shenanigans now going on at the Palace. Finding and smashing the hidden printing presses turning out those disgusting cartoons of the Tsar with floozy at spa - what can I say, I'm exhausted.

TO ALL WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME GREETING:

I feel that I am highly qualified to be granted the most solemn and Imperial title of CZAR. There are several reasons why I feel I am highly qualified. First, I am positively regal and love the regalia. The great Crown with its large ruby would look splendid on my head. Also, I love the snow and cold weather, therefore I would not complain about the snow and cold. I also have a nice figure and Imperial uniforms would look stunning on me, I can do a mighty fine wave as well. I am also very young, 18 years of age, therefore, I would have the possibility of a long reign and a Golden Jubilee would be grand. For these reasons, I ask the Claimant Committee to consider me for the Throne. "It's good to be da' Czar." I have also enclosed a portrait of me and logo.

With divine respect and esteem,

IUSTINIANUS

P.S I can write a mean Letters Patent. (JUSTINIAN BY THE GRACE OF GOD, CZAR....)

Aha, Tsar Doug! Methinks we have a pretender afoot! And one with excellent qualifications, it would seem. Perhaps, after all, it is Justinian who is the true czar? Tsar vs. Czar--or, if you will, Ts/Czar Wars!  ::)

This does throw a wrench into the next court ball, I must say!

What kind of Royal name is "Douglas". My name originates from the Eastern Roman Empire, where the double headed eagle was used. I believe I have far better qualifications that Douglas. P.S. I also speak some French, the language of Royal Courts and Diplomacy.

Thank you,

Dearies,

Justinian my dearie, hmmmm your name and looks are royal enough to me, so you may escort me to the ball, better than an old general or a parrot. ;) I have one question, at dinner do we lie down the old Roman way or do we just use chairs.:-/

Dearest Anna:

We use chairs, in the Russian empire style of course...

I would love to be your escort. Wear your best kokoshnik tiara.

I have one supporter, woot. Now I need some more. Anna, you can be my Chief of Staff in regards to supporters. :)

Avec amour,

+Justinian

Can you imagine that?  An imperial coup d'etat!  Here I thought I was secure in my royal position and what do we all discover?  Tsar +Justinian!  Well, what can I say, other than I'll retire to my country estate and observe from a distance.  That does not mean that I'll not be advising & commenting regularly to all members of the Imperial Court.

Anna!!:  you are so fickle dear one.  Here I thought that you had bestowed loyalty onto my imperial self and what do you do, but up and attached your darling self to the rising star of  another Tsar and a young one at that!  ::)

Good luck +Justinian...you'll need it with this riotous band of courtiers!

Douglas - now reduced to taking tea and Tsar watching from our  country estate 8)

GD Janet:  Don't worry, dear one.  I'll be at the gala for sure now.  I was going yachting but now I'll be at the palace to see how Tsar Justinian  comports himself with the various and sundry courtiers.  I expect he'll wear his imperial crown and garters.   "Douglas" :o
