It's okay Marlene!! I know this might sound weird and sometimes I ask myself why do I keep feeling this way but I find it interesting to search for things like that!

I know I have news articles about possible marriages for Thyra but no marriage ever happened.

These are small news articles from the Washington Post and the NYTimes, I think.  Both papers retain copyright of their material ... I have access to the digital versions through my local public library.  Check yours - if not - there is always the newspaper indexes ...  before online indexes, that is what I used to do when doing research ... hit the library and the newspaper indexes and microfilm.

Poor Thyra...she must have been the least attractive in a family of unattractive sisters...it has always struck me how the three eldest boys (Frederick, Carl and Harald) were nice-looking but the sisters (maybe with the exception of Louise and Ingeborg) were so plain-looking.

an opinion of course...

Can you at name names at least?  :) I wonder if Thyra and Toria ever commiserated together duringDanish gatherings? At least Dagmar was able to marry in middle-age after Queen Louise's death.

Actually Dagmar married in 1922, prior to Lovisas death in 1926, at age 32. I suppose that is middle age for women back then...

I dont know that much about him, but he never married.
As a child he was quit obese, and he already retired from the army in 1916, age 29. He lived at Egelund, an estate build to him by his mother in 1916. He died there in 1944...

Whoopsee!  :-[ I had read the article in ERHJ awhile ago and for some reason it stuck in my head it was soon after QL died--all the better that she escaped earlier. And she married just a plain old 'Mr' didn't she?

Dagmar married Jorgen Castenskiold on 23 November 1922. They had  4 children:  Carl, Christian, Jorgen and
Dagmar. :D

In 1900,  it was reported that King Oscar was making arrangements for the marriage of his son, Eugene, to Thyra (who would be bringing a good dowry.)  Eight years later, it was reported that Thyra would marry her brother-in-law,  Friedrich of Schaumburg-Lippe.

Eugene married to Thyra...Goodness another royal lady who saved herself from marriage to a husband who would have had no physical or intimate interest in her!
