Kevin, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for all the information you have posted, here and on the Scandinavian Message Boards.  I really enjoy reading the results of your researches into the Danish Newspapers.  

The wedding of Louise is described in James Pope-Hennessy's biography of Queen Mary.  It was overshadowed by the illness (typhoid?) of Prince George William of Cumberland.  The state ball and other festivities were cancelled, but fortunately Prince George recovered.  Poor Louise did not have a good start to her married life.  

Sadly, none of the beauty and charisma of Queen Luise of Prussia seems to have been inherited by either Princess Louise or her mother, Queen Louise of Denmark.

It's my pleasure Rosamund.  Yes I don't think Louise had the best life, but then we do not know her day to day life, and with her young children this may have been good.  She visited Denmark every year for about 2 months from July/August after her marriage, and her father at least use to visit her once a year.  I was recently reading Austrian newspapers where she was staying with her father in Vienna while he visited the Emperor Franz Josef.  As I read it I liked to think that she was enjoying this time being his "official consort".

I had posted that photo of Dagmar as a young girl in an earlier thread, but thank you for reposting it, Gdssella.

I too would be interested in finding out more about her. I find it amusing, she certainly did not inherit the height of either of her parents. And she always seems to be placed right in front of group photos, when an older lady, next to Frederick IX who dwarfs her even more!   She seemed to look like a sweet old lady... I hope her married life was happy.

A year or two ago I saw a newsreel clip of Princess Astrid of Norway's wedding.  After the bride and groom left the church, I am positive King Olav escorted Dagmar out, she was wearing tiara, and acknowledging the guests , and  I thought how marvellous for her.

I wonder what kind of disease Louise is supposed to have died of.  I know that some people get so depressed that they refuse to leave their bed, and Louise may have spent a few days like that before committing suicide.  I'm sure the royals would have tried to cover the facts up if that's what happened, and told the press that she was sick.  Maybe not though.  I guess suicide just sounds so intriguing, and the Austrian Royals couldn't cover up the fact that their heir killed himself.

I don't believe she commited suicide - she had been ill with menigitis since after Christmas 1905 - the Austrian papers reported from early January to the day before she died about her condition.  Her brother Christian (X) visited her in January because they thought she was dying.  

I think she did not enjoy living away from Denmark, and that most likely made her depressed, but whether the depression and the menigitis made her decide to take her own life we will most likely never know.

I doubt she would have had the energy to move or get out of bed, let alone walk down to the lake and take her life.

Kevin, I really appreciate all the information you've gathered about Pss Louise.  I've been curious about her ever since I saw her picture in a family group.  Here she is:

For some reason her posture and expression intrigue me, and I couldn't find any photos of her grown up and that was driving me crazy!  But now I know about her life and what she looked like as an adult.

Dagmar and her brother Gustav did not attend the wedding in London, and they also did not attend the wedding of their eldest brother, Christian, in Cannes - I don't know why - obviously an aged thing.

First of all, her name is Dagmar!  I think this particular photo is Dagmar, and not Thyra because Dagmar's nose points more towards her mouth, while Thyra's points forward.  Secondly, neither Thyra nor Dagmar was the second daughter, Ingeborg was.  I guess since people always get OTMA wrong I should have expected writers to get Fred's girls mixed up too.

Yes, both pictures show Thyra, although it would be easy to confuse them in some pictures, as they had very similiar features.
