Can anyone provide me with info or pics of Princess Dagmar, Mrs. Castenskiold and her children/grandchildren??

I do have some pics, which I shall post, but I'm curious about her family...

I picked this up on another thread, I forget which one, but Q. Louise kept Dagmar very close to her and refused to allow her to attend a number of family functions.

Probably either the Dagmar or Aunt Swan thread. There's a good deal of information on the lives of the children there.

Amorous and/or sexual relations between men and women are generally (and in my oppinion wrongly) thought to be something of today. I have a friend for instance whose great-grandmother (he says she was quite wealthy and was able to maintain a few maids) kept a woman in her service who eventually became her female lover! I don't know if royal ladies kept mistresses but I don't think it's such an amazing fact, nor do I think that every bachelor prince or spinster princess had homosexual inclinations necessarily... Personally I'm more interested in the political/historical side of royalty's life... gossip can remain in the anecdote section and the background...

Apart from the historical and political aspects, the personal side can be very interesting too.  ;D

I'm interested in both. I think the personal side helps to understand a person's character. Also, since many royals never had a 'political' side not being a monarch or influential, it's where much of their story lies. I don't like gossip for gossip sake or unfounded rumors but so many interesting stories can be found. Reading QV and Vicky's letters, for example, have a good deal of family news, some might call it gossip, that just sheds fascinating light onto various royal personages. Between those two, not much was missed!

Poor Thyra...she must have been the least attractive in a family of unattractive sisters...it has always struck me how the three eldest boys (Frederick, Carl and Harald) were nice-looking but the sisters (maybe with the exception of Louise and Ingeborg) were so plain-looking.

Actually I think that Thyra was the most attractive of the sisters... ;)

In 1900,  it was reported that King Oscar was making arrangements for the marriage of his son, Eugene, to Thyra (who would be bringing a good dowry.)

Interesting! Eugen never did marry. He was great friends with Crown Princess Margaret of Sweden and the two would talk about art together and paint.

Could anyone provide me with photos of Princess Thyra in old age ? And did she inherit any jewelry from her mother Queen Louisa that is now in the Danish royal family ?

Maybe that is why the match never flew. Little research had been done on the daughters of Frederick VIII. Coryne Hall did an artilcle on them...that was about it.
