Lovely pictures of Missy. She looked like a silent film star.  :) Thanks for sharing.

Queen Marie was definitely a woman before her time. she would have the Late Diana - Princess of Wales, RIP, run for her tiara.

Yes. But Missy was born royal but Diana wasn't. Just like the case that Marie Coburg could defy Queen Victoria's wishes (as in Missy's marriage) in being the only daughter of the Tsar of Russia. Her title of Imperial Highness trumps Royal Highness.

Diana however did come from a noble family and was in that "High Social Class", not much different from a royal, both kind of the same in the eyes of an American girl - both rich and have titles. plus most nobles are descendants from Kings or Highland Lords.

There is a 'big" difference born royal than born titled. Missy's mother used her leverage (as daughter, sister & aunt of the Tsar) to help Missy in her troubles. Diana was left defenseless. That is why I always think Royals should marry Royals.

Missy's mother wasn't always able to "pull rank". "Der Onkel" held sway over much of her life, and those of her children, particularly the eldest two. Marie should have been allowed to marry the future George V, in my opinion.
