Critical condition:HRH Prince Johan Friso
« Reply #15 on: February 19, 2012, 10:58:42 AM »
There has been no change in the critical condition of the Prince. The latest communique issued was about two hours ago and held a request by the hospital to minimize the number of visitors for the time being.HM and Princess Mabel visited the Prince today for about two hours after which they returned to Lech. The Dutch PM Mark Rutte cancelled his wintersport holiday that was to start tomorrow due to the condition of the Prince.

The Royal House website issued two photographs today, one of the hospital in Innsbruck, the other of HM The Queen and Princess Mabel
grief written all over.Sóo sad to them this way, really,it is.

Updates in english on the Royal House website:

No change in the Princes situation. His wife,Princess Mabel, returned to the hospital last night along with Friso's
youngest brother Prince Constantijn and remained for an hour. The hospital has stressed that visits to Friso should
be limited to a minimum.

The image of a grieving Queen Beatrix and Princess Mabel has hit home hard here in The Netherlands and the outpoor
of love and affection towards them & Friso and the entire Royal Family is immense.HM and Princess Mabel give evidence,
once again, that love and loyalty are the very basics of life be that with or without a Crown, just a grieving mother and wife.
It is not beneath Her Majesty and the Princess to show that.

The communique from this afternoon said there is no change in the condition of the Prince and that it will not not be untill the end of this week before there it will be possible to give any prognosis at all.He remains sedated and according to reports he had a drain last night to ease tension in his skull.

This morning HM and Princess Mabel visited Friso for a few hours, always a two hour drive from Lech, but HM and Princess Mabel want to be with the children too just to make this holiday as normal as possible to them. The Crown Prince and Princess Máxima and Constantijn took care of the children,8 in all and took them skiing as that was what was promised to them and that is what they too love.

The Royal Family comes to Lech, and the Hotel Post, for over 60 years, starting with Queen Juliana and her family at the time. All are very very experienced skiiers and can handle any slope, except when an avalange comes down.Friso did have a transmitter so he was found relatively fast..still he was buried in the snow for 20 minutes....His friend had a what is called ABS,and avalange warning system that works like an airbag once your hit by an avalange,Friso didn't wear one.

Possibly Princess Mabel returns to see her husband again this evening along with the Prince of Orange

The Prince of Orange and Princess Mabel arrived at the hospital about an hour ago.It will be the first time Alexander will see his brother after the accident.

In a statement issued this evening by the RVD government information service on behalve of Her Majesty the Queen expresses her and Princess Mabel's deep gratitude for the outpoor of support and kindness She,Mabel and all other members of the RF received after the tragic accident of Prince Friso.HM says all are deeply touched by all signs of kindness and support .

Monday februari 20th:

Also,Princess Mabel and The Prince of Orange visited Friso last night.yesterday, sunday, most if not all churches here,be they Roman Catholic or Protestant or any other denomination held prayers for a spoeedy recovery of Prince Friso and the wellbeing of Her Majesty and all Members of the RF.An exceptional massive outpoor of sympathy and affection,as has been the case ever since friday.

No further communiqués on the condition of Friso are expected untill much later this week, thursday or even friday.
He is still fighting for his life.I must say,it pains me to see HM in this way, just awfull,a grieving mother, with or withour a Crown
is always among the most saddest of sights.Truly is.

No further communiqué's are expected untill the end of this week.Condition remains unchanged.
Princess Mabel and her sister Nicoline visited Prince Friso last night.HM and the Princess will again visit
the Prince this morning.

What was revealed due to the police investigation yesterday is that the avalange was 200 meters wide instead of
the 50 said till then.Furthermore, the slope was cleared that very morning after it was dynamited 9 times to get an avalange
going, but nothing happened, nothing at all.Friso and Florian Moosbrugger felt completely safe, the more so as there were
already more fresh ski-tracks so they were not the only ones on that slope. And then tragedy had it the snow did move.

Florian Moosbrugger is the proprietor of Gasthof Post, the residence of the dutch RF while on wintersports.
He and Friso almost grew up together as they're friends ever since they were todlers, the Moosbrugger family
is very close with the Dutch RF.Mrs.Moosbrugger,Mr.Florian's mother, told on how HM comforted her son, treats him
like her own son and is fully aware Florian has no blame at all.HM took Florian in her arms for comfort instead.

Condition Prince Friso unchanged
« Reply #19 on: February 22, 2012, 09:56:35 AM »
The condition of the Prince has not changed and remains critical, according to a communiqué by the medical team
this afternoon. It also says a prognosis can still not be expected due to the condition the Prince is in.Sad.
This indicates a progonosis is not to be expected this weekend and might be dalayed.

The bulletin followed immediatly after HM and Princess Mabel left the hospital earlyer this afternoon after their daily visit to Friso.
The Princess will return again this evening as she always does. For the 5th consecutive day she travels the 130 km from Lech to
Innsbruck, and then back, twice a day.Meantime the children enjoy a wintersport holiday almost unaltered due to the circumstances
as uncles Alexander & Constantijn and aunts Máxima and Laurentien really do a fantastic job in taking the kids, all 8,out and about all
day. Also Princess Mabels mother and sisters are in Lech.Tremendously closeknitted family.

Very sad news, although not entirely unexpected given the circumstances.  My sympathies to the Queen, Princess Mabel and the rest of the Dutch royal family.

Prognosis bad: Prince Friso
« Reply #24 on: February 24, 2012, 10:46:24 AM »
The medical team presented the prognosis. It is the worst case scenario as the cerebral damge is beyond recovery/repair.
No chance he will ever become his former self again in any which way.It is absolutely devastating.

Immensely sad, what ordeal.HM has cancelled all engagements for next week and will remain in Lech to be with her son
HM will be represented by HRH The Prince of Orange on next weeks engagements here in The Netherlands:

Thursdays medical bulletin,in dutch, english as well as german:

http://www.koninklijkhuis.nl/

HRH Princess Margriet was flown into Lech to support her sister, the Queen.

TRH the Prince of Orange and Princess Maxima will return to The netherlands as the
children will have to go to school again, and both will perform engagements on behalve
of HM as She prolonges her stay in Austria to be with her son.

I have no words, the photos say it all.TRH The Prince of Orange,Princess Margriet,Prince Constantijn
accompanied HM  and Princess Mabel to the hospital today.

This is just so incredibly sad.  Our prayers are the greatest gift we can give the Royal Family.  Let's give them generously.

I just saw the announcement on google news and watched the accompanying link which gave the news conference in English. So very sad. It's like he's caught between two worlds right now. How awful for him and for his family and those that love him. My best wishes to them and to our Dutch Forum members such as Lucien for whom this is so horrifyingly sad.
