I just read about this. How terribly sad, and a day after Princess Mabel's birthday too. My heart goes out to his entire family, especially his mother, wife and his two girls-both under the age of 10. R.I.P.

HRH Prince Friso passed away just a short while ago
« Reply #61 on: August 12, 2013, 09:25:02 AM »
HRH Prince Johan Friso Bernhard Christiaan David,Prince of Orange Nassau died this morning - aged 44 - at Huis ten Bosch Palace, his mothers residence at The Hague .It was rather unexpected as his brothers are on holiday.HM The King and his family are on holiday
at their residence in Greece and will return home immediatly.

My heart goes out to Princess Mabel, who celebrated her 45th birthday yesterday, and his two daughters Luana and Zaria.
And especially my heart and prayer goes out to his mother,Princess Beatrix. There is relief that his suffering is over, but also
immens sadness for his ;loss and what that means for his family, especially his wife, children and above all,his mom,Dearest
beloved Princess Beatrix.May they find the strength to cope with this loss.

His situation was still critical and he is now out of an unbearable situation for him and his family
God Bless Him.

The Prince will most probably be interred at the Orange Nassau Family Vault at the Nieuwe Kerk at Delft.
More details later today and this week.

R.I.P.

God Bless You.

All programming on both the National as well as the commercial tv stations has been changed
due to the Death of Prince Friso and will dedicate most of the programming to his memory.

Palaces have lowered the National Flags at halfmast, also at Soestdijk Palace, the former residence
of Friso's grandparents,Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard.Very moving.People are really shocked.

A wonderfull photo was placed at the RH website.

How dreadfully tragic for the whole family, but especially for his wife, daughters and mother. I hope they can take some comfort from the fact that at least his suffering is over and he is at peace. Very sad news indeed. RIP Prince Friso.

Meanwhile TM The King and Queen and their daughters have returned to The Netherlands from their holiday residence in Greece
and are now at Huis ten Bosch Palace as is Prince Constantijn and his family who returned from holiday today too.HRH Princess Beatrix
also is at home at Huis ten Bosch.

It was unexpected, all were on holidays, except Princess Mabel and Princess Beatrix as Mabel had just celebrated her 45th birthday yesterday at her husbands bedside at Huis ten Bosch Palace. Then this mornings announcement of the marriage of Friso's cousin HRH Prince Jaime de Bourbon Parma who will marry  his Hungarian born Viktoria on October 5th,and then this immensely sad news.Too sad.

It is a relief to Friso's suffering, and his family's who can now mourn properly and say their goodbye's instead of the unbearable situation that was for 18 months.Inhuman almost, for wife, children and his mother and siblings.Still,it did hit home when the news broke of Friso's passing.

Tens of thousands have already conveyed their condolences on the various condolence sites, including the site opened on the Royal House web:

http://www.koninklijkhuis.nl/registers/condoleances-prins-friso/

Details of the funeral arrangements will be released tomorrow tuesday august 13th.

Meanwhile tens of thousands have signed the Condolence registers & sites.

As Prince Friso was Patron of the Dutch Windmill Society, the society honours him by having all windmills put
in the mourning position all over the country.Flags will fly at halfmast from all Government buildings as well
as private houses. No members of the government will be in attendance at the funeral service and interment as
this is strictly for the family and close friends.HM King Harald of Norway will be in attendance
as the King is a Godfather of the late Prince Friso.

Pictures of the service and funeral will be handed out later on Friday after 18.00PM by the Court.
There will be no live broadcast.

The residents of Lech were in attendance as Holy Mass was celebrated in the mountains over Lech am Arlberg,Austria in honour of Prince Friso.
The Dutch RF takes up residence for the past 60 years in Lech so all know the RF and Friso ever since the latter was a baby .

The entire Royal Family and their guests were seen walking from Princess Beatrix's private residence of Drakensteyn Castle to the church
thus enabling all to see them despite their grief and the otherwise private ceremonies.Among the guests King Harald of Norway,Friso's Godfather,
and Emma Bonino,Italy's Foreign Minister, close friend and Godmother to Countess Luana, eldest daughter of Friso and Mabel.

The church service was concluded a short while ago,the interment ceremony started.

Eva McDonald

She lives in London with her daughters,as was the case while Prince Friso was still alive.

Last week the Princess attended the hand-out of the Prince Claus Award at the Palace here in Amsterdam.
