They were all in costume, though.  This wouldn't be the first time the girls had worn male outfits.  What I'm wondering is who the child on the far right is.

The child on the far right is Helena and the child on the far left is Alice.  See "about this work of art" on the Royal Collection website and it gives you the details of the children in the photograph (and which characters they are dressed as).  I think Alice looks just like Bertie when dressed as a boy!

It took me awhile but I finally read every thread in all 3 Princess Alice posts!  I would love to keep this going---she is my favorite!!  My question is does anyone have a picture with the whole family including Frittie? I'm interested in little Frittie( I know he was just 2 1/2 years old when he passed) he was still a familly member.   What was he like who was he close to?

That's all I have alas (i'm a OTMA fan much more than a Hessian one, so i don't have many Hessian photos, I admit).

I'm going to order a book about Nicholas II that only exists in Russian, on a Russian site - i's a big book, but i think i'll work through it somehow, LOL
