Eric, sometimes your comments may be the same over and over again just for the sake of posting and some of your conclusions may sound a little immature, like a 15 year old is writing them...not that I have anything against it,just saying that maybe Svetabel was referring to that! ;-)

Exactly. Reading the same comments again and again is more than tiresome.

I don't think that telling someone is like 15 years old is really helpful in a discussion either. When someone post a nice photo, it is appreciative to say nice things and glad they share it with you. Don't think people today know manners and being polite is lost art.  :o

The point is that you are ready to comment any photo - nice or not, and in the end such comments looks like spam as you don't say anything really informative. You always can thank a poster by PM.

As for Queen Elena - you comment her photos with almost the same words every time - if you don't remember your previous posts and comments that doesn't mean we all are pleased to read them a million times.
Let's stop here and back to topic.

Maybe you are right, but sometimes your comments sound like coming from an Alice in Wonderland and not from the author of several royal books...

Just like the one that almost penniless royal princess should buy a brand new diamond tiara because the one she borrowed from the museum is so out of fashion...I agree with you that the one she is wearing doesn't do her justice, but from someone knowing current circumstances and their financial situation your comment sounds ridiculous...

What I am saying is that she could design her jewels from semi-precious stones like Queen margaret of Denmark and not spent a fortune in diamonds. It is much better than appear in something that does not suit her. Queen Anne of Romania seldom wore her tiara, but that did not make her ant less bad looking or royal.

Lets get back to topic.

I must say it's always nice to see people react favorably to what we post, though, for my part, I'm not doing it specifically for this purpose. When I post a picture that I found particularly interesting or beautiful, my goal is to share my fun with other forum members and the fact of any reaction shows me they really enjoyed the show too.

Personally, I read the many comments of Eric as the fruit of his spontaneity. The fact is that some of his comments, even the most mundane, sometimes possible to start a debate or start a discussion that allowed constructive and rewarding, ultimately, to learn more about a character or on a specific topic.

Thanks. I sometimes do comment on the spur of the moment, for that guilty as charged.  :)

I didn't have an intention to start a whole discussion about inane posts, but if so I should say more. Most of such comments like Eric always post (nice photo, he/she looks good and so on) in 99,9% don 't lead to any informative discussion or - more worse - lead to repetitive discussions. I know what I am talking about - I cleaned up and moderated a LOT of topics with inane posts and useless comments.

The spontaneity is not a sin but if everyone here begins to drop inane/repetitive comments under every photo...well, the Forum will be a chaos. I repeat  - it's not funny and not interesting to read the same words from page to page, many posters got furious scrolling the Forum and reading nothing only "ah, she was beautiful".

Please, any further comments - by PM. Back to topic.

To stir up some new information discussion. Does any one know if Helen was given a dowry or was there a list of wedding presents ?

Sorry, don't know, Eric.

I' d like to tell an interesting story about Michael. The time he reigned under the regency of his uncle Nicolas, gossips claimed that he was born deaf and dumb. Also his mother, Princess Helen, desperate and exasperated by this crazy rumor that was a disservice to the crown, one day took the decision to open the wing of the palace in Bucharest, where she lived with her son to receive politicians, journalists, and many others for the sole purpose that they might see themselves as the Child-King was normal. And it spoke so much, and with so much appropriateness despite his young age, that the odious legend was destroyed.

This curious legend is not unique. Well before the war of 1914, another royal child was supposed dumb by the people : It was the Kaiser's own daughter, Princess Victoria Louise, that many Germans, it is unclear why, decked thought the same handicap.

I think Michael was just reserved and shy. With a vivacious grandmother (Missy) and divorced parents, it is understandable that he may be a bit on the cautious side.

Didn't know that German Sisi (Kaiser Willy's pet name for his daughter after the ill-fated Austrian Empress) was rumored to be born dumb.

This story about the supposed handicap of Victoria Louise was told by her English governess, Miss Topham, in her " Memories of the Kaiser's Court."
