Did Helen got to visit England again in her later years ? I am interested where she lived after she sold Villa Sparta in Florence.

Thanks to Queen Sophie, they often thought of themselves as English and considered it a second home...

A diamond fleur de lys brooch which originally belonged to Queen Victoria and had come in the direct female line to Helen is to be sold (lot 1988) in a sale in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK next month. As there are a number of articles with greek royal provenance in the sale which had come from a former English housekeeper to the royal family it is to be presumed it was a gift.
Irene Duchess of Aosta often wore a fleur de lys...perhaps they were originally a set Queen Sophia divided among her daughters.

Helen and Irene effectively wore on many portraits the same fleur de lys brooch. But I read somewhere, but I can not remember where, that the two sisters were often lent their jewelry and in fact this brooch belonged to Irene.

I think it was the same brooch that Helen & Irene shared. Love to see the photo of this piece to see if it matched the Helen/Irene one in size and gem composition. Is there a link ?

As an accompanying letter (included in the lot)dated from the 1940s gives its provenance to Helen  AND Irene was still earing her brooch in the 1960's..it cannot be the same
