Princess Helen attending a ceremony in memory of King Ferdinand of Romania :

I have the article in the weekly newspaper " L'Illustration " published July 26, 1930. It reports that : " On 21 July was celebrated in Romania, Curtea of Argesh, a Requiem to the memory of King Ferdinand. The whole royal family was present, and Mr. Maniu and members of government, that the patriarch Miron Cristea received at the entrance to the monastery where the late King was buried (.)

This ceremony is presented for the entire country of particular interest, because it brought together in public, king Charles and the one that the Romanian loyalty already called " Queen Helena ", although the cancellation of her divorce has not yet been officially declared (.)

Photography here provides a useful comment. Our engravings show that the couple, at least when they found themselves close seemed to give all the trappings of a reconciliation. "

In fact, we now know that, for various reasons, that reconciliation never took place. However, this rumor of a possible rapprochement between the two long separated spouses feed the tabloids of the time who spoke still regularly until the mid-30.

In her memoirs, Helen indicated it gave the Romanian public the impression of a reconciliation, which never took place.

Princess Helen at a public manifestation in Romania with her little son Mihai, 1928 :

At that time, was it her name "Princess" or "Queen" Helen of Romania ? What then was her official title as the mother of the young king ? Sources and different information about it. Thank you in advance for your clarification

During the first time her son was King, Helen was known as Princess Elena of Romania. However after her husband's exile and subsequent marriage to Magda making her Princess Elena of Romania. Helen was created Queen Mother of Romania. Her title of Queen Mother came from the fact that her son was King, not because her husband was a king.

Thank you Eric, it's clearer now for me.

Helen with Carol :

This photo was probably taken during their trip to London in 1925. This was shortly after this visit that Carol fled to France with his mistress Magda Lupescu.

Extracted from a video documentary on the Royal family of Romania, it is more accurately a press photo.

Mother and son, official portrait, 1940 :

These two beings who loved each other with infinite tenderness did not need to talk to understand. One look was enough for them.

She wears on her left shoulder a pin with lilies in diamonds that her sister Irene also wears on some portraits of the same period.

Helen always looked good in pearls.

You said this, I think, so many times - that it's high  time to say something more informative. I remember the words "Helen looks good in pearls/ jewels/ Helen was always elegant" as a leading idea of both "Queen Elena" threads.

Just commenting on the picture. I think part of her pearl collection might be from her mother Queen Sophie.
