What excellent photographs Erichek.   Thank you very much for posting them.

Perhaps you could let us know some of your own impressions of the Alexander Palace.

Lovely pictures.  ;D Is the chest in the third picture from the Grand Duchesses' bathroom? It has the same kind of knobs and circular decorations. Perhaps they were mass produced?

Here's a picture of the chest I am talking about. It's on the left:

Thes chest of drawers in question looks like the ones that once graced the Emrpesses Dressing room !!! The tall ones are defiantely native to the room

Erichek,

I was there exactly one year before you were (July 17 2004). Your pictures brought memories of that awesome day (though I have similar pictures). The exhibition was small and incomplete, but I thoroughly enjoyed just being there where so much happened. I  also liked the quietness and the unhurried pace, and the staff who was friendly and trying to be helpful (unlike the huge crowds at the Winter Palace and its grumpy, harrassed employees). I am hoping to return (maybe with this board?), and that the exhibition would be considerably expanded.
Thanks for posting.
Yoyo

All:

I really wanted to see all of Erichek's pictures but some were so dark I could barely make them out. I took the liberty of using my Adobe Photoshop program to "fix them up" so they could be better seen. I "PM'd" Erichek before I did this but he didn't reply. I feel like these photos are important for the sake of the website, particularly because they were shot so recently. I hope I'm doing the right thing. I wish to extend my most gracious "thank you's" to Laura Mabee up in Canada without whose kindness, patience, and forbearance I would not have figured out how to post up these photos. Laura you were wonderful. Thanks too to Erichek for being there to shoot them.

Thank you both for all your work in allowing us to see these photographs.   I think Eric's version of the Palisander Room and the Emperor's New Study are particularly atmospheric.
