No, she was Vladimir's half-sister, as they had one parent in common.

Step-relationships are those purely through marriage. So Olga Paley's two children were Dimitri's stepbrother and stepsister, as the children of his stepmother by her previous marriage. Vladimir Paley was his half-brother, as the son of his father by the marriage to his stepmother.

Was she the one who married Prince Serge Oblensky, who wrote his memoirs in the United States ? I read Majorie Merriweather Post wanted to marry him, but he refused.

She married:

1) Prince Alexander Vladimirovich Baryatinsky and had two sons, Andrei (1902-1931) and Alexander (b.1905). Baryatinski died in 1910, at the age of thirty-nine.

2) Prince Sergei Platonovich Obolensky. They married in 1916 and in 1922 Obolensky left Catherine for Alice Astor, the daughter of John Jacob Astor IV (who went down on the Titanic) and they divorced in 1923. Serge & Alice married in 1924 and they had 2 children before divorcing in 1932. They had a huge mansion in Rheinbech, NY, the town which was the recent setting of Chelsea Clinton's wedding. (Alice Astor was quite a character if anyone wants to research her. Same goes for Serge.)

There is a unfinished portrait of Serge by Savery Sorine at Hillwood, Marjories former home in Washington DC now a incredible museum...

Alice had 4 husbands in total!

Yes, 1 Russian, 1 German and 2 Englishmen--the last husband was David Pleydell-Bouverie, grandson of the 5th Earl of Radnor. Her 2nd husband, Raimund von Hofmannsthal, married the daughter of the Marquess of Anglesley and Lady Victoria Manners (daughter of the Duke of Rutland and once rumored to be a bride for Victoria Melita's cousin Prince Arthur of Connaught.)

Anyway, not to get too off-topic. The Astors are an interesting bunch for those interested. Obviously, Waldorf gets referenced quite a bit on the Forum as a close friend of Queen Marie of Roumania's. Perhaps there's a general thread (or should be!) in either The Discussion Forum or Their World and Culture.

Anyway, a link to some info on Catherine and her siblings:

If Serge Obolensky married an Astor, why did he later worked in a hotel and had to write his memoirs ?

The hotel he worked in actually belonged to Alices brother Vincent....He no doubt was too much of a gentleman to take alimony off Alice...even if offered it!
Many people write their memoirs without having to for financial reasons.....the American billionaire Paul Mellon, the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire and her late husband,Rose Kennedy,Vincent Astors widow Brooke Astor....the list of wealthy people is endless....

I think he worked at the hotel until his death. He became a fixture there. I wonder if she met his former Russian wife again...
