This photo was one of 60 that was published in a 1916 portfolio  to help with war funding
...though I believe most of the photos were taken in 1915. Here's another page from this portfolio .

One was for sale on eBay last year , which sadly I got out bid on....still it went for a song:  600.00...in other words, 10.00 per photo . The cover was in rough shape, but the photos were still okay. That last picture of two photos was from the listing. You have seen most of the photos it contained on AP already  I believe ....Alexis and Joy sitting on the ground is one...as well as the one of AN and Joy sitting in a tree...
Any time you see a later photo mounted on  a similar cream color page , it's very likely to be from this album

Here's the cover

Anastasia (or do you mean Alexei?) in a tree with Joy? I've never seen that one. Perhaps it would be a fun idea to post all the pictures avaliable from that album in this thread!

As far as I know, all 60 images are available at the NYPL site. I downloaded all 37 pages a while ago. If I could find the link, I'd pos it!

Always loved this pic, but poor Anastasia has the lower part of her face somewhat swollen in this one! It seems like she had had a visit to her dentist, LOL!

Here's the start of the NYPL Romanov pages....you can see pages of the 1916 album along with other interesting items. I think you'll recognize the photos on the cream colour pages ....thanks to voyageroffreedom for sending me the link! =). I don't know if you knew it would be timely...but it was!  =)
