I meant that Felix and Irina didn't age very well. If you look at pictures of them in the 20's & early 30's, you can see how 'harsh' Irina looks. Again, this is just my two cents on the subject.

I think Irina always looked 'hursh' and somtimes I think she had not very good temper, she wasnt rather pleasant I think so we can see its reflection on her appearance. imho.
and Felix...he is not Dorian Gray to remain beautiful as he was in his teens.

Actually Felix didn't seem to look so bad in his later years.. I am sure he was under a lot of stress, after being exiled and all, and survived not only a revolution but a world war as well... so under the circumstances, he looked pretty great. (Though I heard he put a lot of ghastly make-up on... but I haven't seen a photo, so I can't judge.)

I think Felix was good looking when he was younger. Makes me think...this is just a long shot maybe, but do you think it's possible he did drugs? Many people who looked attractive in their youth lost their good looks to heavy drug use when they aged.

But at that time, cocaine was not considered a drug, it was used as a cold remedy, amomng other things.

In my opinion Nicky and Alix get old so fast and looked exhausted because Life put a great burden on them in the person of the reign and. of course, of the terrible  illness of Alexei. I know nothing about drugs. anyway the stress was the main reason they looked so.

and, back to Felix - he took opium (of course a lot of people did it). but cant it be the reason? its a rather strong drug, isnt it?

Perhaps it was the combination of living a fast life and the stress/burdens of the political/class situation that was happening then. Felix seemed really affected by what was happening to his country.

Thank you for posting those nice pictures of Felix. I was thrilled to see the picture of him and Bebe. I wish it there was a close up of it and better quality but I'm just grateful for having them posted on this thread. Do you know when the picture of Nicholas and Felix was taken? Felix seems to have a mustache?

The picture of Felix as a child is adorable! Where did you get his book at? Where can I get one?
