maybe Ill try later to take another pic of the pic of Felix with Bebe. maybe itll be better...

the pic of Nick and Felix was taken in Rome in 1907. aww Felix is adorable there!.. and his mustache is very funny  ;D

oh no, Felix wasnt a pretty child. at all. ;D

I bought the book in Arkhangelskoe. It's Felix's biography.  The author is Elisaveta (Elisabeth) Krasnikh. I dont think that is it sold even in Russian bookshops, Ive never seen it before there. :-\

Why are such good items so hard to find, even in Russia! I would gladly buy it, if there was a way for me to get it.

I hope it was good read, any intresting information in that book/guide? I can wait until I go to Russia. I'm so envious of you at this moment.  ::)

It's really very sad that it's very hard to find good information...I would like to work in archives in the main libraries of Moscow  but Im not allowed because Im not 18 or older :-\

I havent read the book yet because Im reading another book about Romanovs but as soon as I finish it Ill start this one. Im sure it's very interesting.))

You know...only now I realize how onderful and great my country is)) not long ago I dreamed to live abroad and to be far from Russia as much as I can. but I changed my mind. the period of USSR was shameful *but interesting to learn about in some ways* but the Imperial Russia...uh..
I hope youll visit Russia soon))

and Im looking forward to visiting Petersburg!..

That is an amazing portrait. What a tremendous sense of immediacy. And for the first time I can understand why Irina might have been attracted to Felix himself, and not just to his money.

hm strange but when I saw this portrait it didnt empress me much. and he is rather middling.
and in this picture it seems like he had rather light hair and I dont like it. but it's not importaint.
anyway this picture shows his grace, elegance and stateness of a real aristocrat. he had such elegant hands.

WHY would anyone take a picture of someone on their deathbed?  ???  I don't think Felix himself would have liked that...

BTW, it's really strange, but I just noticed that it says that I started this thread called "ALL Felix's photos, I beg you", which I am pretty sure I didn't. I don't think I would have ever given a thread this title  ;D. I mean I wouldn't mind seeing Felix's photos, but I don't want to see them THAT much!  ;)

Hi Helen, I think they merged your thread with a new one created a few weeks ago. I could be wrong here, but I'm almost positive that is what happened.

Good question but it seems this act was practiced throughout Europe during the Victorian era but my suprise came when I saw these pictures because I didn't think anyone would still be doing that.

Hmmm... I mean, do they later want to look at these photos and reminisce: "didn't grandpa look terrible on his last day before he passed on..." or something like that? I would think the last thing you would want to see over and over is the person that way, but would want to remember them the way they were when they were young(er) and healthy(ier). How bizarre these people were! I know they also used to like taking pictures of the dead... What exactly do you do with these photos, show them to your grandchildren?  ??? It's almost like a snuff film type thing, not exactly, but not that far from it, IMO.

In any case, sorry for digressing from the subject of the Felix photos!

If the image was originally taken for forensic reasons and kept out of public scrutiny then fine but to have it published as part of Felix's biography ... then it becomes vulgar and invasive at least for the deceased alone.

I'm not sure if any of you would have seen this portrait before ?

It was painted by Johannes Linse (1875-1930)
