This book (Secrets of the Hohenzollerns) also said that while the Emperor was very careful and discriminate in the handling of his money, the Crown Prince could incinerate it in a hurry.

I'm interested to hear that the Kaiser was astute in his handling of money - he wasn't exactly careful and discriminating in anything else!

I think this relates to the topic as Georg and his new bride are heirs to the money about which the last few posts are regarding.

It is VERY frequently the case that 20th century heirs of fortunes went on spending sprees like none other. Many fortunes were squandered. Georg has, it seems, been very cautious about the remains of the estate and is trying to keep it in tact as evidenced by this marriage and his battle with his uncles to dilute the fortune.

But discussions about Kaiser doesn't relate to the topic.

From what little I know of Georg Friedrich he sounds a very sensible fellow.

How Wilhelm and his son handled their money might be on topic since it gives some indication of how much Georg Friedrich von Preussen might have to protect which could directly influence his choice of bride.

However, anything else about which the Kaiser may or may not have been careful or discriminating is clearly off-topic.

Is he also the guy who said, If America were to choose to negate a percieved future threat from Mexico, it would be an act of political realism and not genocide?

If Georg Friedrich von Preussen actually said this, then he must be lacking in several areas.   The Kaiser would be spinning in his grave.

If he ever said such a thing it must have been in private to capttrips's uncle Omar, who allegedly goes fishing with the King of Spain. (*Wink, wink* :-) See here.

Ok, I see now.......................well one does look a little like Queen Sophie and another like Queen Margarethe but it's a little hard to tell since their faces are turned a little too much or a little tutu fuzzy.

There s no Queen of Spain whatsoever. Or Queen Margarethe of Denmark

Wonderful location. The ceremony will be within a few feet of the remains of Kaiser Friederich and Vicky. It would be SO terrific it during the wedding the bride and groom paid some sort of homage to these, the groom's most notable ancestors.

The 1500 invitations for the wedding on august 27th will be send this week.

On the eve of the wedding the traditional annual Princess Kira of Preussen Concert will be held at the
Berlin Concert Hall instead of Hechingen Castle, and it is expected that many wedding guests will be in
attendance.

Up to now 70 journalists from Germany and abroad have requested/announced their presence.
The wedding will not be aired live on any tv station but will get attention in the daily TV magazines.

1500 guests?
They spoke of 700 after the announcement. Pity that we will just see pictures.
