He was forced to live abroad--they settled in England and also had a home in France. I don't know if he ever returned to see his family in Russia, though he and his siblings frequently vacationed on the Riviera. So MM was safe from the Revolution, though he did lose his fortune.

They lived in some style in England, at Kenwood House in Hampstead, for a time.

Isn't it true that it was Sophie Torrby who refused ever to set foot in Russia again, due to the fact that she felt that she had been badly treated over their marriage?

The Revolution wiped out Miche-miche's income and I suspect that some of Sophie's jewels were parted with in order to make ends meet (notably her massive sapphire and diamond stomacher, which was purchased by Queen Mary for her daughter Pcss Mary).  His daughter Zia probably helped redress this situation when she made a very advantageous marriage to Sir Harold Wernher, who was beyond doubt extremely welathy.

Nada (who married George Battenberg, later Marquess of Milford Haven)

Zia (who married Harald Wernher and whose cousin, King George II, had been in love with her)

A thread on Nada & George (which also has a good bit of info on Zia) with many good photos:

Actually, the stomacher seems to have been purchased by the future Earl of Harewood (the bridegroom) for Princess Mary. He's identified as the gift giver in the wedding coverage. He also purchased some jewelry from the Dowager Empress's estate.

He looks a bit like miche miche

I would say it's him.
Just look at this picture - of young Nicholas Mikhailovich and Mikhail Mikhailovich - Miche Miche is much younger here than the man on the picture posted by granduchessella, but comparing the faces -in my opinion it is exactly the same person.
