Anastasia Mikhailovna later became a close friend of Queen Elizabeth II, who used to go and stay with her at Luton Hoo quite regularly in the 1970s.

I am bumping up this topic because I just read that Georgina, Lady Kennard, has died (age 91) on April 28.  She was the granddaughter of Grand Duke Mikhail Mikhailovich (daughter of Lady Zia Wernher).  Among her children are two English duchesses.

I spotted one of her granddaughters, Lady Edwina Grosvenor-Snow at the Royal Wedding.

I wonder if anyone has a photograph of her at any point?

So her granddaughter went to the wedding the day after her Grandmother died?  I'm American so not sure about proper British protocol, but isn't that a bit uncouth/tacky/shoddy?

I'd be spending time w/ my family, but that's just me.

Depends what her family thought. My family are somewhat of the business as usual persuasion so might well have done the same thing. My mother took and passed her driving test between her mother's death and the funeral a week later! She always claimed that she passed because Grandma's death completely took her mind off the test.

Lady Edwina's mother, Her Grace, the Duchess of Westminster, is the Duke of Cambridge's godmother. I would imagine the plans were in place for some time for the Grosvenor family to attend the wedding, and it's very possible that Lady Kennard's death at age 91 was not a great shock to the family, including Lady Edwina.

I can recall receiving a bit of criticism when, after my father died on a Sunday,  I worked that Monday through Wednesday. It could not have been helped, as I had responsibilities at work, and more still with the funeral on Friday. All went off without a hitch, but what I did that first week after my father's death had little to do with what I personally wished to do and more to do with what I was committed to do. It could be the same with Lady Edwina.

Marlene has some family photos, a wedding photo and a story on her on her blog:

I guess Mr Phillips had been a lover of her sort-of Aunt Edwina Mountbatten.

I would have 3 questions in this morganatic case:
1) Comte de Torby : is this an Imp. Russian or a GD Luxemburg title ?
2) is there a Coat of Arms  (Герб) ?
3) where is this place Torby ?

Many thanks

Paul

It was a title from Luxembourg. Grand Duke Adolph granted the title to Sophia after her marriage.
