Sometime in 1899-1901, I guess. The Empress looks younger.. Though it could have been taken later but my first thought was late 1890's, early 1900's.

I rather doubt that it's in Denmark because Nicholas' is in uniform.

I got your point, Kalafrana.

How about mourning the death of the Queen Victoria, the Empress' grandmother who died in 1901. For a comparsion, the 1901 photo of the IF also shows that AF was wearing black and Nicholas white uniform as it is shown in the previous photo.

(Taken at Peterhof, in 1901, after Anastasia's birth -- the Empress is still wearing the black dress).

The IF also visited Denmark in September of 1896 and 1901 and in 1898 (or 1899 -- please correct me if I am wrong) as well. GD Georgiy died in August of 1899 and Queen Louise in 1898.

Well...at least these images of Nicholas, in the same period this image was taken, were taken in Bernstoff, Denmark

As you can see, there are plenty images of him using the white uniform .

Tsar Nicholas II of Russia with his family in the park of Tsarskoye Selo, Russia, early 1900s. Nicholas (1868-1918) with his mother, the Empress Maria Fyodorovna (1847-1928) and his children promenading in a carriage. Found in the collection of the State Museum of History, Moscow.

The Dowager Empress Maria Fyodorovna may have been  in that carriage but I really can't see her. I believe Margaret Eagar, OTMA"s nanny is in there too, though I can't see her much better.

Nicholas and his mother. This one's pretty funny, I wonder what was happening at that moment.

The Imperial ladies having descended from their carriages, they are joined by the Tsar, while their trains are arranged by court pages. The Tsar's
uncle, Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, Governor General of Moscow, stands directly behind his nephew.
