Oh - found it! The above picture is titled simply "Hospital" and it was painted by Paul Rizhenko in 2013.

In the Balmoral picture Nicholas is wearing the uniform of Colonel-in-chief of the Royal Scots Greys. The gentleman to the right of him is Arthur, Duke of Connaught.
