Bedankt, Lucien, thank you for being our "reporter on the ground", so to speak. ; )

Enjoy the day!

Thank you!...Enjoy the day was an understatement of sorts...grin...It was a perfect day in every aspect, from the ceremonies in the morning,to the Investiture in the Nieuwe Kerk to the Royal cruise through the port of Amsterdam on the IJ river and the concluding dinner & dance hosted by the PM.Plus the Millions of Dutch both here and in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom who celebrated in abundance and the most fantastic of atmosphere!!

The Speech by the King was top,the part in which he specifically thanked his mother was very moving and resulted in an applause that lasted several minutes. The gathering of Royals from across the globe was impressive, and I think they were impressed by what they've seen and saw too...And maybe get an idea of how a change on the Throne is done these days...haha....Poor dear Charles witnessed his 2nd Investiture here....The royal cruise was fantastic as on the shores of the IJ river lots of what the Netherlands is good at was on display...Also a concert by Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra!!Both the King and Queen are huge supporters of both Armin and the RCO...So,so they decided then and there to make a stop and say hello to them on stage with the three Princesses...To the cheers and applause of the thousands gathered for the concert...Fantastic...Meanwhile Princess Beatrix was on board of another vessel with all the Royal guests and arrived shortly before TM at the Muziekgebouw concert hall for the party hosted by the Dutch government
.

it has been an absolutely bloody marvellous day and brilliantly done in a extremely well organised scheme

From this afternoon, the Nieuwe Kerk is opened for three days for all to view the spectacular inside, with everything except the Regalia,
in place as it was yesterday.

I think everyone has had a good view and idea on how a change on the Throne can be done, and what peagantry means
when most think that's solely related to the British..no..It is not....grin..

A fantastic day and a promising start of a new Reign!

Does anybody know why the new king chose to reign under the name of Willem Alexander, and not Willem IV?

According to the British papers, the new king doesn't want to be 'just a number'.

The king's 'thank you' to his mother was on BBC Radio 4 on the one o'clock news (with translation). I'm glad to say that he sounded as though he meant it, and the applause was most impressive.

Because Willem-Alexander is his name all of his life and he didn't see a reason to change that now as
he said himself in an interview two weeks ago.Besides that,he laughingly added..;" Willem IV stands next to Bertha 38
in the meadows"... Meaning he doesn't wish to have numerals like cows..

@ Ann..The applause lasted for little over 2 minutes,it was loud,it was warm and it was meant every instant,it was beautifull.

Today HM appointed his cousin Prince Maurits as his Adjutant extraordinair while Maurits was also elevated to the
rank of Capt.-Lt of the Royal Navy.Prince Maurits is the eldest son of HRH Princess Margriet and Prof.mr.Pieter van Vollenhoven.

Earlyer today TM saw their last guests off after the brunch hosted by TM at the Royal Palace,Amsterdam.
