It would be interesting - even if discussed a bit in "Tatiana with Maria pictures" - what they really did have in common, if letters quote something about their relationship or their thoughts of each other or if there is something special about the most "unknown pair of OTMA"
And when he shall die, // Take him and cut him out in little starres, // And he will make the Face of heaven so fine, // That all the world will be in Love with night, // And pay no worship to the Garish Sun.

Amazing... that first one is new to me! It looks like Tatiana and Alix are having a conversation or something! Where did you find that?  :)

I have always wondered who's with them in the second! I would think Anna obviously but who's the guy?

Talking about similarities, I read once that T and M had in common their love for "womenly things" such as gowns, perfumes, and so on.
But i really can't remember where i read it, so my source is not sure at all - i'm sorry for that. I started being interested in the Romanovs when i was just 12: i have all the infos in my head, but i don't remember the exactly sources, after 12 years... and some of my Romanov books were lost when my granny's house went on fire 10 years ago, so sometimes i just can't find my info in my books - and i think i'm crazy and i've dreamt them in the night  :D

It might also be Catherine Schneider. The photo's not clear enough (for me) to be sure.

RHB, if you mean the guy in Hussar's uniform with white aiguillette (anyway I don't see others), then this is Count Alexander Illarionovich Vorontsov-Dashkov "Sashka" (10.04.1881 - 04.10.1938). You can find a lot of his photos in the Vyrubova albums.

Some info: Russian, close to N-II Guard's Hussar's officer, nobleman (Count and son of one of the biggest Russian landowners and generals, Illarion Vorontsov-Dashkov). After graduation from the Page Corps (1901) served in prestigious Guard's of HIM Hussars Regiment (finished service in 1917 with the Colonel rank), in 1905 as a Fligel Adjutant was enlisted in personal Suite of N-II and accompanied IF at all meetings till the start of WWI. One of the closest to IF, big friend to Anna Vyrubova and other court's people. Participated in WWI. After revolution stayed in White Wrangel's Crimea and then (November of 1920) after Wrangel's defeat evacuated to Germany, then moved to France, then again to Germany. Contacted with different emigre White military leaders, including General Wrangel. Accepted new Hitler's regime in Germany and was a prominent member of the National Organization of Russian Scouts. Died in emigre in Berlin just before WWII and buried in Tegel cemetery.

I think Catherine Schneider is an excellent guess and Nicolá  your information about the officers in the family's life  is always amazing. It's wonderful  to have a history to go with these faces . I never expected to know so much about them. thanks!

I  love the photo of Marie and Tatiana with their father. They look like future Queens . And  I love the one of them by the water...gorgeous

That sounds evident for me if we have a look on their diaries. I have always thought that Olga and Anastasia were more the "boyish" ones of OTMA. I've even red (don't know if it was from Alix diary) that for Anastasia it was just a little "mistake" of nature and she actually should have been a boy.

And blessOTMA you are right: they look like queens. Better: they look like new "versions" of Tsarevnas Maria Alexandrovna and Marie Feodorvna

This is my opinion, too: in fact i've described them just this way, O and A being "masculine" and going well together for this

I'm strongly leaning towards 'the woman in question'  (pic 2) being Anna V.

The funny thing is Olga did think about her officer  favorites a great deal...this was a bond she and Marie shared....looking out for each other's favorites and making note of their  appearances ,"  so and so was there so Olga was happy " etc.   I think one could find examples of the girls doing it all. They could all be rough or what is considered "girly" at a given moment. Tatiana  it is said loved clothes, but I don't remember that being said about Marie. It would be difficult to keep them just in one category or another. TN said during the war she wished she had been born a man!
