I *adore* the photo with Anastasia showing an officer on Standart some knitting.

I also think Tatiana really suited the cropped hair.

The family photo where Nicholas is lighting his pipe, Alexandra and Anastasia are having a conversation and the only one actually looking at the camera and smiling is Maria - I wonder what Alexandra and Anastasia were talking about?

Some of those I had seen before...However to see them among  others, new to me, but taken at the same time  and in such quality is amazing...thanks, and thanks again!!!

Anastasia is "teaching " that young officer how to knit...well you can imagine the hilarity potential there. He lived in New Jersey for 50 years after the revolution . There was an Life magazine article about him and his photos of the family in the 1970's. He can be seen in other photos taken in the Crimea....and it seems  to me that's him with Anastasia and Alexis in  the photo before the kniting one .

Annie, you are right.

This is Baron Taube Georgiy Nikolaevitch (1890-1975). He died in 1975 in Freehold, New Jersey as far as I remember. In emigre he was a marine writer.

Btw, excellent photos. Big thanks to Tatiana Z.

Thank you Nicolá,  for supplying Baron Taube's name!  I tried tracking down his archive once. He had alot and made a point to collect  material about the Imperial Navel as well as his  photos of the family . It was still here some time after his death, but at this point I believe  it has been  sent to Russia...probably to an historical organization. In the article it was  said he was a favortie Anastasia's. He took the  famous photo  of her sunning herself on a rock with a white circle drawn  on it  . Price Michale of Greece must of seen this album as his photo book has some of these photos. The "knitting"  photo is featured

These photos are golden, period. Enlarged with the zoom function, they reveal so much more in details of the subjects' faces, clothes, the setting, etc. There are times when bigger isn't necessarily better; this ain't one of them. Thiese are the IF and their circle,up close and personal.  Just great, Tatiana Z, and likewise laura! Merci!
