About the picture of the child in the frame:

According to the giant book Nicholas and Alexandra exhibition p. 133 - "the child is most probably Count Boris Petrovich Sheremetv (born 1901)". The provenance came from the Sheremetev collections.

Thanks for the info.

Faberge: Imperial Jeweler, by Geza Von Habsburg and Marina Lopato also attribute this piece to the Sheremetev collection: "From the Leningrad Regional Department Museum of Public Education, 1926, in Count Sheremetev's House, in the Fountain House."

I admit, I'm a little skeptical of these authors' identification of the child as Aleksei. There were a few scattered errors in other photographs of the imperial children, so it's very possible that they were mistaken in this case as well, and that Condecontessa's source is correct.

Its understandable Grand Duchess Ally. Also, its because we want to see new pictures of the Imperial Family that we question it and hope that it is. I sure do. I guess we won't be content until we really see everything in GARF and other archives that might contain anything about the Romanovs.  :)

Pertaining to authors misidentifying pics, its irritating at times because you think you know something because of the source you read, and then finding out its not right. You would think that  authors would be familiar with their materials. Thank goodness we know better with each other's opinions of course :)

I agree. There are many photos of kids labeled to be Aleksei, two famous with his Nanny labeled to be 'him'. But many of them are cousins.

These pictures are from http://photoarchive.spb.ru:9090/www/start.do
I'm not sure it was 1910/1, I think it was rather a little earlier.

According to that site, those photos were taken on March 29th 1911, in front of Catherine Palace review of Fleet Gvardiksii Regiment, I think . Middle one you posted, to precise. Perhaps and the last one too.

I think this is full of that one, I am not sure. Fields near Dnieper River, summer of 1916. From TNR's album.  ;-). And from A. Vyrubova's too, recently sold at auction, IMO.

I have it somewhere bigger and unmarked, but having great trouble with finding it. Once I found, I'll post.

This one is so dear to me:

Hehe, I found:

I just adore this picture, does anyone know what year it was taken in and if there's a clearer version of it? ???
