intriguing... Hmm, I don't believe so, but there are quite a few photos, some taken in the AP, and some somewhere else. I could be wrong about the footage though....

Intersting question. I agree with Talya. We often see the photos of Rasputin, and relate  those to his portrayals by actors in various films. Confusing. But, I do not know either.

If you think about it, there aren't exactly dozens upon dozens of videos of the IF. The probability of there being any of Rasputin are slim at best. However, weren't a bunch of his friends rich? Weird way of putting it, I know, but they could afford the technology, there could be a lost video of him. Or a wax cylinder recording. The technology did exist then.

It would be very interesting to hear his voice. I didn't think of that.

Off topic, I know, but what would it sound like? Are there any mentions in AF's diary or Olga and/or someone else's memoirs?

I don't see why anybody would've written about Rasputin's voice, and so highly doubt they did. I was just wondering if anybody knew of public footage of Rasputin, which apparently they do not. Thank you everybody.

No prob :) well, people did notice his eyes, and why not the voice?

Yes, well, good point, but his eyes were said to be very . . . different from everybody else's. Perhaps his voice was just average - you know, nothing amazing, just sounded like a regular guy's?

but there are quite a few photos, some taken in the AP, and some somewhere else.

Yes, there is . . . but for some reason, I get the feeling (I might have read it somewhere, but if I didn't, I'll go ahead and put this: IMHO) that Rasputin didn't like getting his picture taken. Isn't it because his enemies might have used them against him, or something like that?

Hm, I think that I found video on Youtube, when probably Rasputin could be seen It was 1903 or 1913, during the ceremony. We know that he used to take part in them.

Those were 2 anniversary celebrations.   Both were festive years for the dynasty. I might have this reversed, but  one was the founding of St. Petersburgh the other the establishment of the Romanov dynasty, 1913.
Margarita would know for sure, but I do not think Rasputin made much of a public display  with the IF. He had no real court function, after all.

I recall that he was present during some part of the tercentenary celebrations -- perhaps in Moscow? But to my knowledge he was essentially there as a spectator and played no official role in the ceremonials.

Didn't he go into a church during one of the celebrations and take a seat that was meant for someone else?  I don't remember which celebration, but I am sure we can look it up.

I think the rightful owner of the seat had him forcibly removed.

I also think that he was smart enough and Nicholas was wise enough to be sure that Rasputin didn't get too much publicity with the family.  Spala was only a short while before the 1913 Tercentennial celebrations.

Almost correct, Alixz! He was presented at the celebrations in St. Peterburg, on February 21th 1913, among the Duma members, when Rodzyanko told him to leave the ceremony. He was refused to attend Kostroma's celebrations. Despite this, he went there and practically he followed the IF, and he was allowed to enter the Church in Kostroma. GD Xenia Alexandrovna wrote that he also was in Archangelsk's Church, near the it's doors (in Moscow). There exists possible possibility that cameras might have caught him. Yes, according to Radzinsky, he frequently visited Livadia in 1912/3.
