Post count?
« on: May 09, 2013, 01:44:30 PM »
Hi all :) I've been here since 2009, mostly silent and just going through interesting posts, but I have posted 10+ posts and yet my post count says three. This always confuses me when I log on because I get worried that my post might have been deleted for some reason, but when I check back through my profile post list, I see they're still there. Is there a reason for this? Thanks!

This is explained elsewhere. Essentially, only posts in the "Serious History" threads will count.  Posts in "Having Fun" and "the Discussion Forum" do not count.

I wouldn't worry too much about it Kassy. As the FA said it's just how things are set up.

I may have the worst "batting average" of any current member on the AP (below .300), lol, but I post on a wide variety of topics and certainly don't believe the percentage of posts counted are a reflection of ones overall contribution.

Just keep plugging away...you'll get there!

Ah, I understand. Sorry for posting about it again. I tried to search for another topic about it but I couldn't find it. Thanks for letting me know. :)

so if posts in the Cave Story forums don't count, then what posts do count??  If you ask me it's really stupid to count some posts and not others.  Either count all posts or remove the post count feature altogether.

We are a History discussion forum. We allow "fun" postings but feel the stress is for historical discussion. Therefore, we do not count "fun" posts but only the serious history factual discussions. I'm sorry if that bothers you for whatever reason. If you don't like it, you are free to participate elsewhere. We have dozens of serious credentialed historians who participate here who actually don't even want the "fun" threads. We try to keep a fair balance.

I agree with what the FA says. Though it's funny how often lite topics lead to excellent intellectual discussion, and the other way around.
