Dear Thomas,

I wouldn't be so certain.  Remember, in Bob's image, the photo is at an angle, and also probably under a slightly convex piece of glass, which would distort the image somewhat.

Though it is hard to be certain, I should think that they are the same photograph.

Nick
I disagree, actually. In Thomas' pic, she is wearing a clearly noticeable big pearl earring. No earring in Bob's pic. In Thomas's pic, a high lace collar and pearl necklace - Bob's pic, no high collar nor pearls, look at the curve of the neckline to shoulder closely in Bob's pic. I think they are both Ella, but different pictures of her...
My 2 cents.

Hello,all of you!
I think it's not the same photo, but the same shot (or shooting?,I know know the name in English... :-[)

The dress and the hairstyle seem to be the same, but not the pose...

I do not think it is the same photo. You can inmediatly notice the dress is different and the pearl necklace is missing in the Mauve room's photo.

After reflection, I think that you have reason!  In any case they are very similar!  That shows well, again 1 time, be that this is the same person, be that the sisters Hesse resemble definitely  themselves a lot!   ;)

Hi Thomas,

I know the frame you write of. There is the photo of Anastasia sitting on the piano bench knitting with the row of various frames on top of the piano and the little lamp shade.

I can't identify better...

In the Big frame I would say it's possibly a collection of miniatures - obviously there's a crown above.

Could it be a Tsar and his wife above and their 5 children below?

I see the picture on the left top looks like it is in a white uniform with fur - I have seen Alexander II in such a uniform.

If it is a specific family with parents and children the images of the children seem odd and of the wrong ages.

However, it's more likely, I think, a collection of Romanov painted miniatures in a special frame possible made up by Faberge.  Since it's still in the room in the 30's it could not have been made out of precious materials.  Nicholas and Alexandra had other collections of the family miniatures made up for them - one was in the big Hermitage Faberge Exhibition a few years ago.
