I think my use of the word "caretakers"  may be misunderstood in translation.   There is a need of a better word for those of us who provide home and food to these independent  characters we've labeled as CATS.  I am drawing a blank in this wooly brain of mine.  Suggestions please.

What do you mean I have to learn manners and how to eat out of crystal dishes?

Aye Bear, as far as most of us members know, Bob says that ALL are welcome on all his threads !  :D
I have a fine cat to offer for view, but can't seem to get it on the screen.
Yours looks fine and proper, and to heck with them crystal dishes...
Darn, that's sure a deep well there isn't it ?

Bear,

Squash and my Layla look like litter mates!  Such beautiful swirls!  I just love mackeral tabbys.  Is Squash grey and black?  Layla is tan and black.  I had never seen a tan and back mackeral tabby before we adopted her.

I have a photo of "Grand Duchess" Noel drinking out of the bathroom vanity sink.  I'll post it as soon as I can.

And we thought she would keep the others in line......   :D

I believe for both domisticated pets, as well as those in the wild, the following terms have been used :
animal supporter; champion[ing] for animals;  advocate[ing] for animals; and or animal sponsor
in each of the above 'care' is already understood.
There is also the word, defender of, for, the defenseless...

Ah, yes. They do have us well trained.  My group simply calls the humans in our house "the staff".

They have taught us to fetch when they call.  To open doors when they cry.  And of course, I have been brought the empty food dish on occasion.

And when they lose something like a toy mouse, it is imperative that one of "the staff" helps to find it immediately.

Wow, some of this thread sounds right out of the X-Files!

Scully:  What is this new theory of yours, Mulder?

Mulder:  Well, Scully, I have proof that the Russian Imperial Family did not die in 1918, but they were saved by aliens and taken to another planet.

Scully:  Right, and I suppose these same aliens also took Judge Crater, Amelia Earhart, Jimmy Hoffa, and Elvis Presley!

Mulder:  Well, Scully, since you mention it...

Scully:  (rolls eyes and wonders if it's time to get a new partner)

Na, Scully would say "Mulder, I need proof.  In our first movie I was thrown in a spaceship and you had to rescue me just before it flew over head, but that's NOT DEFINITIVE so don't use that against me.  Oh yeah and in season two I went missing for a few days, but that had NOTHING to do with aliens even though I clearly remember some of it.  So what IN THE WORLD makes you think aliens took the Romanovs?  How do you know they even exist?"  Mulder: *facepalm*

Of course, the Doctor could have appeared and piled them all into the TARDIS.  He would have the room.

Since some of this thread mentioned cats, I too have a cat.  Her name is Trilly, and she's a tortoiseshell.
