I don't think she was that unattractive as a young girl-she wasn't pretty, exactly, but with her hair in long curls, and her head turned slightly, she was rather striking.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I think Lovisa was wearing the necklace with the crown diamonds (the one with the big drops) and not the ruby parure in her court dress photo... :(

The discussion of the ruby parure was separate from the photo of her in the Court dress. She's definitely not wearing that parure in that photo. The discussion of the ruby parure came in response to a quote about Louisa's being left that parure.

Is it possible that she is wearing the Desiree tiara, which is now in the possession of the Norwegian royal family? The one Queen Sonja is wearing in a photos on the link posted below

I don't know if this picture from Maud and Carl's wedding has been posted; anyways I think it was used to paint the wedding portrait below.
And it seems as if Lovisa is a bit emotionel here, or maybe it's just because of the snap picture?

I've looked at before as well--even blown up sections--and I never even noticed Louise down there!

Lovisa is hard to see, but I don't have a better quality of the picture. That's why I posted the wedding portrait so you can see where she would be in the picture.
Kevin, I thought of Lovisa sneezing in the picture aswell, but who knows.
Perhaps as her son Christian X, she could be very emotionel at times.

On another note, I found this picture from MF arrival in Denmark in 1919, and I suspect the elder lady coming down the stairs is Lovisa.

It's great to see these photos of Louisa (who I hope her new Great-great-great-granddaughter will be named after)

So did MF and Louisa travel about together in later years? I didn't think they liekd each other particularly?

It looks like that may be Harold helping her down.
